Ok thanks... The RTR website says it's generally a two week wait. I wonder how realistic that is.

Absolutely. They seem to be pumping them out pretty quickly but in limited quantities. Probably making a killing.

Here is what the back of it looks like (the stock 13-14).

There are two screws visible on the inside of the trunk lid when you open it on the bottom corners. Start with those.

Then as you see in the pic there are several clips. My suggestion is to get a large bondo spreader or some sort of plastic or firm rubber scraper that you can slip down between the decklid and the panel. I would put painters tape on the paint above the panel before you do this just to be safe and avoid scratches.

If you are doing the ones on the bottom first (what I did) you just push your tool up and once you feel the clip just apply some pressure and you will hear the clips pop out. Then you can do the ones on the top and it will pop right off. No need to get crazy. If it isn't popping off then you have missed a clip. Lots of people say you can't get these off without breaking a few clips. I didn't break any.

Here is another pic with it off so you can see exactly where the clips are. The bottom has 2 less clips because those were where the screws were. So it is 6 on the top and 4 on the bottom.

This was for silverskoundrel:

I tried to, but with the original sheet metal version of the piece, I don't think there's anyway getting around it from eventually rusting because the elements got to it. That's why I just bought the new and improved plastic version to cut that possibility right out from happening again. The original piece forced me to redo my entire trunk because it was rusting...not trying to scare you. It was very costly. I think keeping it out of rain and snow, one would be ok, but I don't know how you drive your stang

True, I thought it had finally died. Still my favorite mod to this day. I'm sure the supercharger will take the throne once it's on and functioning lol

Probably cheaper to bend the metal than to form fit the factory contours than get a mold made for the plastic version.

It probably was cheaper, but extremely thin sheet metal? They could've done a better job of sealing the powder coat from the elements and just overall better QC. I'm glad I have the plastic version now. No more rust lol.

I might be going for trufiber carbon flush decklid. It requires no cutting of the trunk! Click image for larger version

The true fiber is a nice piece. However, because it's not concave as is the RTR version, it protrudes a bit from the tail lights and looks a bit awkward in my opinion. I saw it in person at a show over the summer with a carbon fiber trunk and it looked ok, but I prefer that concave look where it's contoured to the shape of the trunk. Research some pics before you purchase.

That is true, however in my case, the 10-12 taillights pop out from the decklid unlike the flush 13-14. So for mine it will be fine. Click image for larger version
