JLT Oil Separator

Does anyone use this?

Is it worth buying for a stock 13 GT?

Bc the separators still let oil into the intake.

I use breathers. The JLT oil separators can cause a lean condition due to air leaks.

You don't need a website. Just pay attention to my posts and you'll learn plenty.

Sometimes it's not about getting many opinions but rather the right ones from the guys that have done it.

Words of wisdom.

Bobs auto sports has a cool design and according to them seems to work better than the JLT and the SVT version , there is a video on their website. If you decide not to go the breather route. I don't have one yet ,was going the metco breathers route or the Bob's just haven't done it yet

How often do you have to replace/clean the breather filters?

I find it interesting that you change your oil every 3,000 miles. I use the Motorcraft synthetic blend and it lasts much longer than 3,000.

Two problems with breathers. Oil mist in engine compartment which is not good for keeping your car clean under the hood and smelly oil vapor for cabin occupants #2, illegal for emissions requiring closed systems. Won't pass smog visual inspections in states with them....the JLT separators work as advertized.

Here we go with this again. I'm not going to go through all this again, did it b4.
Breathers are perfectly fine,
Listen to people who have been down this road,

I'm not going to tell you to do anything I have not done myself.

I don't get any oil mist in my engine compartment.

And as far as emissions goes it takes 2 minutes to switch everything back to stock.

JLT oil separators do not catch all of the oil and again cause vacuum leaks and lean conditions. Something only a data log will pick up.

haven't had the first problem using this separator when I change my oil I check the intake end with a Qtip no residue at all. I clean the unit each oil change which has been once so far and it also has two chambers.

They are perfectly fine. Ran them on my stock motor and now on my Built motor.

Like I said listen to people who run them

I don't see how a catch can/separator added to a closed pvc line can cause a lean condition. I see it as exactly the same as OEM only with a separator to collect oil vapor and hold onto it. Explain? Opening the crankcase up to the atmosphere with a breather style is suspect in my book. Open vs closed, seems like a no brainer to me. A closed system like oem can only draw air from the crankcase if there is pressure/blow by available with a one way valve/pcv, not lean air from outside the motor. A breather just vents crankcase blow by/pressure into the engine bay and into our air we breath...? Kinda like removing cat convertors when we are trying to clean up our atmosphere, except in third world countries, not go backwards to the smog of the 60s and 70s. Sounds a tad selfish to me...but most here are too young to remember the hideous conditions of the air in so. California in those days. Oh well...
