Those with painted coil covers.

Those of you that have painted your cool covers how have they held up? I was thinking Duplicate Color engine enamel. I am a huge Texas Tech fan and have a balck on black Stang. I thought red coil covers would look good and be a neat little mod. Just would hate to have to redo it often or start to look horrible if the enamel doesn't hold up to the heat.

+1 Also very interested in this as well. Such a simple thing as painting them would imo make the engine bay look much better

I was going to get some 400 grit and lightly sand mine then spray them with the rust oleum high temp flat red. Should be fine the paint is made to resist 2000 degrees.

I did a 400 grit wet sand and picked up a can of deep impact blue spray paint from automotivetouchup.com. Cleared it with duplicolor engine enamel clear coat (500 degree heat rating) and have not had a problem in 10k+ miles.

Spray them with black plasti dip, then paint whatever color you want on top of that. You can change colors as often as you like, without sanding.. Had mine plasti dip for a year now..

I filled the "POWERED BY FORD," sanded, painted with silver, used a vinyl sticker, painted them flat black and peeled off the vinyl.

Sweet. Thanks for the answers. Looks like a project for the near future. I looked at pre painted or carbon fiber ones. Only red ones I saw were Roush. I don't have any Roush parts so would be silly. I'd rather paint what I have and keep the powered by Ford black the rest red.
