Shift Point

I have a 2011 5.0 with air intake, exhaust, and tune. Where should I shift at while racing?

Peak power tapers off at 6500, so no real need to go above that. If you ever get a Boss or CobraJet Manifold, then you'll have reason to shift up over 7k.

Shift Point

CAI, exhaust and tune shift at 6500
Boss Manifold @7600
CJ Manifold at 8100 but you better have forged internals
With your setup you peak at 6500 with about 390-400hp but by 7000 your power drops to maybe 370 and by 7500 its at like 345-350 so yes shift at 6500 with your set up

No need to have forged internals with a a Cobra Jet intake, just oil pump gears are recommended.

I tend to shift 1st to 2nd at 7000, but everything else at 6500. I like to think that the small dip in power at the top of 1st helps a bit with traction in 2nd (plus, you're hitting 2nd gear at 5800-6000, right near the peak of the powerband).

I could be doing it funny, but I don't tend to lose 'drivers' races very often.
