Datalogs- ideal numbers

Can anyone provide some ideal numbers from datalogs or at least some red flags. I saw another post on here that indicated +/- .5* for knock sensor is somewhat normal. I also saw bama shoots for 26* advance with their tunes. What else should I monitor?

There's a ton of things you can log. I would give the Bama team a call and they'll walk you through the process! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Here's a few things I always log:

Thanks Dan, those are the same pids I use. I guess what I would like to be able to do is understand the data myself. For example what should measured AFR be and what is unsafe? By the way I have been dealing with Ryan at Bama and he is really helpful but I am not sure he has the time to teach me what I am looking to learn.

Anyone have any input on good or bad numbers for the items Dan listed above? Or anyone know where I can find this info?

There is no one set of ideal numbers that fits all. Every engine will tolerate more or less timing advance, fuel, etc. This is why canned tunes are a hit and miss proposal and why people dyno tune.

You mean data log their tune on the street. You have to move away from your old school thinking.

400 bucks...not sure I want to learn that much. Maybe people on here would donate for me to take the course...LOL.

I haven't checked elsewhere yet. Probably do that tonight while at work. I would have thought someone with a aeroforce interceptor gauge would have asked this before. Why live monitor if you don't know what is good and what is bad.

Tuning today is no joke. we aren't talking about just figuring out fuel and spark tables here. The massive complexity of modern engine management makes self-tuning a pretty deadly proposition if you're not entirely sure what you are doing with a particular ECU.

Here's a few basics to start:

-AFR under Wide Open Throttle should not be higher than 12.5:1 or so. This reading will vary depending on fuel used. This is why most tuners use Lambda, which is unaffected by fuel choice. Google that for more info.
-Spark advance should not exceed about 25 degrees at WOT
-Knock ****** should be a concern at anything regularly more than 1 degree.

Thanks! This is what I am looking for. What do you know about MAF frequency?

What do you think this piece of info will tell you? Plotted over time, you could really only see whether the signal was pretty clean or dirty. This thing doesn't really tell the end user a lot, as far a useful info goes.

I wasn't sure if it was useful or not, so you answered that question.

Frequency based maf are additionally difficult to test because you can easily see on a voltage based maf if you are pegging the meter in a radical application. Not so easy to see with frequency based graphs.

The clean and dirty signal trace can tell a very experienced tuner where a druveability glitch lies. Some of the cai kits for this car are a lot better than others here.
