i need help as much as i love my car I'm thinking about buying a brand new truck. I can't take my dog out to do anything ever in the car can't go camping or even buy dirt bike or a atv since i can't transport it. I know i will always love mustangs but it limits me a lot to do outside stuff. Thoughts ? and 2 door or the 4 door one . I love my mustang but i live in chicago and winter does suck but mainly i want to haul some toys and enjoy taking my dogs out more idk thoughts anyone go through this before? Im 26 single 2 dogs and can't afford 2 cars

Buy a little beat up ranger or nissan b2000 for those purposes and keep the stang. All you do is get a $1000 - $2000 truck and get liability insurance. Problem solved.

I sold my four wheelers to buy my car but I gave my 2010 F150 to the wife so we can still take the dogs out or outdoors type stuff.

See thats my problem i don't want a pos truck lol i would much rather have one really nice vehicle. Maybe when I'm older and its paid off then have another one. Just tough choice i would love to take my dogs to the park and beach but can't in the mustang and i feel bad they need to do more then sit at home .

You can always take them on a walk. Mine seem content chasing each other around in the back yard. I had 4 mustangs then got my truck. Had my truck for 4 years and the last 3 years all I have talked about was getting another mustang. The wife finally had enough of me talking about it and said to just buy the damn thing. Now I smile every time I get behind the wheel of my car. And she's happy to have the truck instead of her 03 element.

Went through that decision got away from the cars got a nice truck, boat, wave runner atv etc. Granted it was fun and I also took my dog out more now I sold the truck and got the Mustang this summer. Also in the Chicago area so I hear ya on winter but it just wasn't the same without the car. Sold the boat after getting the supercharged wave runner because after that the boat got boring ha but been keeping an eye out for a cheap suv to tow the pwc, atv, etc around and take the dog places. As long as it isn't no rust bucket I'd rather have both. Best of both worlds!

Sell your car, buy a truck. It sounds like you've already made up your mind. You're young enough to jump around with your finances. But why a GMC? Why not a Tundra or an F series?

We'll the colorado is a option to just waiting to come out next month. I don't want a full size due to the drive I have to work daily . So looking at a v6 crew cab with long bed. And hoping it stays same mpg or gets a little better then the 5.0 I get like 23mpg combined now . So at least 25 il be happy and the new mid sizes should be close . Click image for larger version

I'm single with no kids 23 years old. I have a brand new 2014 mustang and also have a 2000 model Toyota Tacoma with 125,000miles. I bought the truck just for winter and to drive to work and it was the best decision ever. It's lifted with 4x4 it can haul or
Tow anything and it was super cheap. It gets 17mpg with 285s on it. You should
Consider a small used truck honestly because you're
Gonna miss your mustang man I've been there and done it. Traded my last
Stang for a 2012 ram and hated myself everyday for what I did.

Not sure where you are from but here in california you can find a good used truck with decent miles for a good price. Specially because gas sucks. I was origanally going to get a Tundra Crew Max. You can even get a used SUV and find a cheap used bed to tow your toys on.

My truck doesn't look decent. It
Looks pretty ****ty. But it doesn't matter to me anymore what other people think because I have a badass mustang and a little beater truck that always runs and goes in the snow or
Mud and tows anything I have. Other people are jealous of that here because they have these big rocky ridge trucks that won't go offroad because they're scared it'll get scratched. But mine goes anywhere

Rent yourself a pickup for 1 week, don't drive the mustang and have it parked away from you, and see how it feels.

My dog just goes with me.

We just got back from a 2,126 mile round trip from Daytona to Pennsylvania.

If I were you I would keep the Mustang and find a Suzuki Samurai to carry your dogs. I have one and at times I have 6 or 7 dogs going to the dog park.

This thing is four wheel drive, Fun to drive, gets 30MPG around town and cheap insurance.

get something like this for dog hauling and for the winter snow and still have your Mustang. I use mine for my Walmart shopping.

If I wanted a mid-sized V6 truck, I'd go with the Tacoma. We've got a 2012 SR5 PreRunner at the shop. We use it for hotshots and it just went over 200,000 miles. The only work it's had is maintenance and tires. I'm not sure about the fuel milage though.

My friend Shari just got a new F150 Ford truck

She had a 1997 she bought brand new in 1996. It finely needed a lot of work but still ran OK. It needed stuff like Shocks, Brakes, tires, Catalytic converter and complete exhaust system. The stepside only has 280,000 miles on it but she wanted a new four door F-150 so she traded her 97 in and bought a 2014 red one. She still got a little over $3,000 for the 98 on the trade.
Not bad for an eighteen year old truck with 280,000 miles on it and needing work. It was a V6 Step Side automatic no frills at all bench seat with no rust and only a few small door bang dents.
