Painting Coil Covers

Has anyone painted theirs? I want to paint them red but I'm not sure what paint to use. Will engine enamel adhere to plastic? Any suggestions on what paint to use or tips on the process would be greatly appreciated.

There was just a thread about this. Quite a few people just lightly sand and use high temp paint. Search around you should be able to find the thread.

I looked and only found a thread on this in the appearance forum and asked the same question there earlier. But no one said what paint they used. I went today, twice actually, to look for high temp spray paint but all I found was engine enamel and other paints that say they are supposed to be used on metal surfaces. I'm just not sure if that kind of paint will stick to plastic well and before I spray it I just want to make sure. I'll keep looking though and see what I find.

I just used some blue paint my wife had in her "hobby stuff" crate in the garage. I cleaned my thoroughly with soap and water first. After they dried, I cleaned them again with mineral spirits and just used some ordinary blue Rustoleum. Sprayed on two or three coats and let dry overnight.

Just buy the rust oleum high temp. The best selection will be on the internet the local stores usually don't have the best selection.

I painted mine with Krylon Fusion paint. Just cleaned them up really good and painted them. I think they turned out great. Click image for larger version

You haven't had any problems with the temperature messing with the paint?

Nope not one problem. They have been on there for a couple summer months and the paint still looks perfect.
