Spongy clutch after removing clutch assist spring.

I just took out the clutch assist assembly and no there is a softness or sponginess to the clutch when it is ll the way out. It moves back and forth about half an inch. Once I push it in there are no problems with it engaging and it definitely feels stiffer when I am going through gears. I just didnt know if this was normal since there is less tension on the pedal or if I did something wrong.

Its just weird after having driven with it for so long. Its like it doesn't come back out as far as I'm used to. As long as nothing is whacked out I guess ill readjust.
