You want to go through all that money and trouble just for the sound?

You got a lot of reading to do buddy, You can tune these cams to sound "cammed," that's the beauty of the Ti-vct system. You can have a car with stupid big cams idle like stock, or a car thats bone stock idle like its got stupid big cams. If you want to pay $2000+ for a sound upgrade, be my guest, but you could also just pay a tuner an extra $100 (on top of the hand held and base tune) for a "cam" tune.

Well the tuning its self will cost a 2 Gs as well as 1.5K from the Stage II Comp Cams + Labor, but hey.... Working 200 hours to have something nobody else in the world has on a coyote?

1. Even buying all brand new items, you can have a cam tune for like $700 give or take. Thats the tuner, the base tune, and the cam tune.

2. PLENTY of people have cams lol, that is not something "no one else in the world" has on their coyote.

3. The stage 3 cams are plenty streetable.

4. you will notice very marginal gains doing cams on a stock engine, so yes, you are blowing a ton of money on a "sound only" upgrade.

The off the shelf cams from comp are junk,

If you are planning on actually doing cams, you will need a custom cam from MMR, or L&M.
Dellete the VCT, dellete the phasers, and add lockouts.
Valve springs.
This is only if you plan on a all out NA build. Or nitrous.

You can hit 550+ NA but it will require a lot of work.
You need to do alot more research vs thinking you are going to get anything with stage 2 comps.

My buddy was recently quoted $1200 for custom MMR cams. $300 cheaper than comp, and likely perform better is pretty nuts. JPC quoted me $1000 for just intake cams ... must be smokin some good **** over there.

MMR stage 3 NA cams is what I'm throwing in mine.
They are some of the best cams out, that and L&M.

By deleting the vct, phasers and adding lockouts. You will pick up a dam good amount.
But the rest of your motor has to be up to par

No just telling you the truth.

Even if they were drop in and get to loping like a LS.
With a 228 duration at 50 degrees it wouldn't be verry aggresive anyways.

Like I said it all can be done, but needs to be done right

If he does not have the VCT deleted. Then you are hearing nothing more than a cammed tune. Not the actual stage 3 cams. The vct has to be deleted and go old school again to get a lope, but it requires a great tuner, and the rest of the mods to take advantage of it

Do you have a Manual and a 2013 or better GT? If so Get the Ford TrackKey Tune. Sounds old school thump idle, and adds more lower end torque just where we need it. It awakened my Stock 2013 GT/MT-82 and Dealer keeps my warranty intact.

Then what you need is here, and your Ford dealer if they are not prudes, will sell it to you and install it for you to keep warranty if you wish. Otherwise you can do it yourself. My dealer sold me the tuner for $469 and 90mins of labor to calibrate it and do all the warranty paper work. [yes there are better deals on this out there, that is not my point]

This doesn't drop gas into the Cats, is inspection safe for 50 states and didn't ruin my mileage as some other cam tunes do, in fact I got better mileage on the open rural roads due to increased timing [91-93 octane required] . In town mileage went down due to right foot actions I cant always control

If I dont want the Thump/Lope idle, I can start the car with the Cruz off button pressed down and it wont engage.

If you want a real lope do it right.
If you want a real tune do it right.

What tune is the best in your opinion for gains and liability?

It adds 60pounds of TQ at 1500rpm. It is designed to flatten the HP curve upwards, not increase peak power at high rpms where you cant use them on the street. Its peak hp increase raises 420 to 436. No you cant play with other parts that need a tune for it with that, its for folks like me that don't want to. I don't need to at this point. Its main feature is you can turn it on or off without re-tuning the car, a Ford only feature as well as passing emissions test, not dumping gas, and not ruining gas mileage.

If you want to play with other parts and the tunes for them, MPT makes very nice staged cam tunes, 1,2,3. I used one in my V6 before I traded for the GT. It really got up and went friends didn't believe it was not a V8.
Ford Mustang Performance Tunes, Tuners, Parts and Accessories | MPT Performance

But like all other non-ford tunes, to turn it off you have to return to stock each time. And it tends to dump gas into the Cats but does have a safety feature for that and shutdown to keep cats from overheating. So it will increase fuel consumption.

And if you wish to get into very high ends tunes, Lund also has cam tunes at the edge of the envelope.

Depending on just what you want, I agree. But its like asking a person what computer is the best, what tablet what cell phone. No answer is correct until it is matched up with what the person wants out of the "tool."

Or even what car is best , depends on what the person wishes it to do for them. Those choices are designed for a person that is going to build a beast or work up to one. Not the just something "factory safe" over stock till I put a factory blower on it like I am concerned with.

The OP seems concerned I think with something in the middle, might want to work his way up to a Lund, AED or Dyno tune after getting feet wet on an MPT tune. MPT seems to have features of Lund tunes, did any of them learn from him do you know Rap?

Ahhh, More POwer Tuning; been around a quite awhile, just not advertising fast food. I went to them after I had issues with the fast food on my V6.
http://www.morepowertuning.com/dyno

And I also used Steada as well after my Quarter Pounders didn't come out right, but Steada didn't have the cam tune. Basically I switched between those two brand tunes depending on taking a trip or going to car show. That is why I like the Ford Track tune on my GT, I can decide when I start the car.
