Newbie here Exhaust too loud

I'm considering buying a 2011 GT which clearly has aftermarket exhaust. Its loud.... I know I will probably get a lot of flack for this but I don't want my car to be super loud. I want to hear the rumble when I get on it but I don't need the neighborhood knowing I'm coming up the street when I'm just rolling through the sub division.

This is my first muscle car/performance car. Not sure what type of exhaust is on it but looking for suggestions. I test drove a 2010 that sounded great when I got on it but it was really mellow when just cruising through the neighborhood. I guess prefer more of a "sleeper".

GT500 is perfect. Badass muscle car rumble. Loud when you want. Quiet when you need it. I saw a test somewhere online here and they said that the GT500 at idle was actually a decibel or two quieter than stock. Yes i realize not everything online is accurate but I know that when I put mine on it was VERY close to stock at idle. Almost dissapointing quiet. And if you ever feel like it's too quiet than you can always do what I did and spend $100 to have an exhaust shop remove your resonators and put 3" straight pipe in its place. And the axleback is only $300. You really can't go wrong with the GT500 axleback.

Hushpower by Flowmaster is quiet at idle and below 2k even. I have it and it was a good system. But don't change out the cats. They become extremely loud.

I have a set w/ 400 miles on them just sitting in the garage. Lol.

Personally I think the roush ab's are the best since I don't plan on any other engine or exhaust mods. Get compliments on it all the time.

Borlas sound volume is spot on. It was the actual sound that they produced that I couldn't stand. Way too high pitched for me.

Outlaws here too and they are just perfect for me. There is a drone at 2k. But it's not over bearing. I like it.

I bet you have outlaws tho. To ppl used to stock exhaust, they can be a bit aggressive. However I wanted loud and was actually surprised how quiet they actually were.

I have the GT500s, have a nice rumble and sounds really good when you stomp on it, no drone. I wanted something not too loud either, but they are a bit too quiet, not loud at all under 3000 rpms and quiet at idle.

Look on craigslist, you can probably pick up a set of OEM mufflers for $100.

Why would people give you flak for wanting a car not to sound like your Cletus' rusted pickup with the exhaust falling off?

Quality over quantity any day. You can always make a quiet car louder but you can't go the other way. Borla ATAKs, S-types, anything Flow, are all likely going to be too loud, if I understand your needs correctly.

The Ford GT500 OEM muffler is a nice, inexpensive upgrade to sound level and quality. It can't be beat, even when compared to a lot of more expensive stuff. It is still a stainless muffler and has passed 100,000 mile durability testing, because it's OEM.

Rocking LSP Loudmouths. Best purchase of my life. People are always complementing them. I broke this one guys neck at a red light the other day when I was in neutral and gave it some gas to let my friend hear the sound. There is some drone but not much honestly, unless I just don't care/notice it. When you get on it it's ridiculous. But everyone has their own taste.

Look into kooks. Sounds like a perfect fit for what you want. Recently switched to them and there perfect. Nice low tone at idle but no drone and actually kinda quiet while just cruising but yet make some noise when ya open it up. I also have long tubes and off road X-pipe though.

Think you'll like them. I put the GT500's on my '14 GT within a week of owning it!

Something else you may want to do... remove the engine sound tube.

With GT500's and the sound tube... IMO its a little too loud in the cabin for music, phone calls, etc. GT500's minus the sound tube... its back to sounding stock INSIDE the car with windows up.

Now when I WANT to hear the car, I'll roll my windows down or put the convertible top down, and I get to hear the beast.
