Steeda Springs - something wrong? <see photos>

Ok, I planned on taking measurements before, but I forgot my tape measure and by the time my ride came to pick me up (who I asked to bring one) the car was already up on the rack, so I didn't take before measurements.

Visually, the rear appears to be sitting much lower and the front looks almost stock.

I just did the swap on Friday and drove about 50 miles so far. Also the car only has about 850 miles on the odometer. So maybe the whole suspension system as well as new springs need time to settle.

I did take before & after photos and "super imposed them".
See below of supposedly 1" drop in front & 1.25" drop in rear:

Disclaimer: the angles could be slightly different, lighting is definitely different. For a true visual measurement, I'd have had to use a tripod so camera is exactly at same height for all photos, so there is no angle distortion.

I did take after measurements:
Front: 28 5/16
Rear: 28 1/8

From what I've seen stock is about 28.75" front & 29.50" rear ?
So I dropped 1/2" in the front & 1.5" in the rear?

I bought the convertible specific springs which supposedly have a little heavier spring rate (5lbs diff) on the rear for the convertible.

I think there's something off... ie: not enough in front & a little too much in rear!
What do you guys (& gals) think?

Ok, will do when I get home.

I'm kind of wishing I had gone with the Ford Racing 1" drop kit.
I've heard good feedback of nearly exactly 1" drops on all 4 corners.

The thing that swayed me to the Steeda's was that they were "convertible" specific, and slightly lower in the rear, which should have levelled the car a little.

Yes....drive around for at least a week or two before taking some more pics or measurements. I've lowered two cars previous...'94 Mustang GT and '04 Mazda RX 8. The Mazda settled waaay down much further than expected. Getting on those rail type car washes was a thing of the past.

I would expect more drop than that in the front considering the weight of the engine. I guess they can settle but I put the Ford Racing handling kit on my car a few weeks ago and noticed the drop as soon as it was back on the ground. How much are the front springs supposed to drop the car?

Yeah the drop should be immediate and noticeable AND even.

My front drop was not enough, and the rear I think was a little too much.

I THINK I had like 1/2 to 3/4 drop in the front, and close to 1.5" drop in the rear.

The feedback that I've seen on the FRPP 1" spring is nice even 1" drop all around.

I'm not too happy and I doubt the front is going to drop 1/2". I kind of think they lied about these springs being convertible specific and rated 5lbs heavier for rear.

And I think that's part of the problem, the back dropped too much (probably from heavier convertible) which makes the front drop not look significant enough.

I'm going home for lunch & swapping cars. (F150 for the Mustang)
Pics and "finger measurements" to follow. Before I had about a 4 finger gap in both wheel wells. I haven't done the "finger" test yet.

Hello,

Where did you purchase the springs from?

In most cases, the springs need time to settle in other cases ... they do not.

If you would like ... you can give our facility a call at 1-800-950-0774 or you can email me directly at tim@steeda.com. I will put you in contact with one of our veteran install professionals.

Best Regards,

TJ
