I'm about to order the SHR louvers. I'll be ordering them painted from SHR.

Yeah, that's why I'm considering unpainted, but isn't Lexan more difficult to paint or something? Otherwise I could just have a local body shop paint it.

I think you are better off having them paint it. I just didn't get their best work on the first shot. Tape lines for the viewing windows were off and crooked. But they have another set in the works for me. Should go out this week. The wait time sucks too. But since your red, they prob keep your color in stock. Mine is a one year color so it took about 3.5 weeks for the first set, and I'm about 3 weeks into the second set.

Yeah, I think Red Candy Metallic was a 2 or 3 year color. Hopefully your second set is how it's suppose to be.

Should I order it with the install kit? I'm going to find a body shop to install it after the repaint.

I wouldn't. You can order the primer and glue for under 40 bucks. If your paying someone to do it, you don't need the tool to remove the glass. They do. Lol. I just purchased the stuff from an auto body supply place online. Same part numbers. It was WAY cheaper. I already have a window removal tool same as they use. I'm doing the install myself.

Mine are 404.99. Granted, I think my paint is the most expensive.

Wow, didn't know they charged extra for different colors. Makes sense

Well its a tricoat paint...

Kinda like how Ford charges extra for this and one other paint selection (can't think of it) on the 13's.

Yeah

Color

Pearl/ metallic

Clear

Three stage is what we called it when I worked in the body shop. So they have to add one extra step in the process plus that extra coat isn't free

Me too! Lol. Mine are shipped so I should have them soon. FYI, if you were going to get a set, he painted 2 sets to send me a different pair (he always paints them 2 sets at a time) so he has a Oxford set sitting there. Just sayin. I know you just blew your load on that shaft though 😜

Anyone know any good paint/body shops in the NOVA (specifically alexandria) area? Otherwise I may just wrap my car like this.

Are you stuck on that color? I'm liking some of the newer metallic matte colors.

Wait, aren't you supposed to get a warranty re-paint of your whole car?

Yeah, it is. Just basing on that the dealership in Chesapeake told me, they were going to take it to a body shop since they supposedly couldn't do body work there. Haven't talked to the local dealers up here yet.

I hated that dealer in Chesapeake. The salesman were good, service people were complete incompetent a**holes.

Alright, been putting it off way too long. Will order tonight.

1 question about the louvers. Should I order them painted already, or unpainted, since the entire car will be repainted soon. I've just been so busy with college summer classes, church, and unpacking around the house that I haven't had time, or have just forgotten to order them. I'll take a screenshot of the confirmation.

Unpainted, I'd order from AM. Painted would obviously be from SHR.

I'd get them from shr. they are not easy to mask and paint. Plus they are lexan and require the proper prep and adhesion promoter ect. I wouldn't trust someone who has never painted them before to do the job. You wouldn't want to install them and then have the paint chip off later due to poor prep or wrong materials. My .02

Anyone taken their hood insulation off? It seems pointless to me that it's there. Only thing I'm worried about is how the engine bay would fare in a heavy thunderstorm without it, since I'm assuming more water would be let in as a result of not having it on. I doubt heat would affect the paint from having it off.

Lot of guys taking them off their '15 since there's a pony on the underside.

Only drawback I've heard of is some added heat, and I heard that the insulator is supposed to melt in a fire and help extinguish it but not sure on that.

I wouldn't. It's there for a reason. And with the underside of the hood paint peeling issues already widespread, I wouldn't add to it.

But you don't daily drive yours. It never sees the rain. Mustangz has to drive his rain or shine. And we see plenty of nasty weather here in va.

I dunno mustangz, if you don't have a CAI then I don't think it would hurt anything. But it will make it harder to keep the engine bay as clean since the water will drip on a bunch of other stuff. Plus I imagine it keeps some of the engine noise down along with the heat. I would leave it if I were you but that's my opinion.

Stock engine bay, isn't really a daily anymore, but yes, it will get driven regardless of weather probably. Engine noise isn't a concern.

I'm sure, your car looks great with them. Next body mods are the Stalker Hood (my next mod) and the RTR decklid and spoiler whenever they are remanufactured.
