Exhaust Silencers

Ok, I love my full headers back catless exhaust's loud rumble and BLAT BLATTTT BLAAAATTTT but when I take the car like on dates I want it quieter. Need a temporary fix.

So has anyone ever tried using these silencers? YouTube has no mustang with silencer vids. Do they work on a catless stang and how well?

And no I prefer not to plug up my exhaust with steel wool lol

And I can't buy a spare car. And no trading Mia in. Lol

I think I saw online somewhere someone suggested using glass packing. But I'm concerned with back pressure and such.

Maybe get some cutouts man. Put your stock mufflers back on and get cutouts so it can be loud when u want it to be and quiet on dates?

Yeah was considering that. Sell the Hushpower muffler, keep the 3" h pipe, change the tip to a quad. Use the money from selling the Hushpower to get the electric cutouts.

But a stock muffler and cutout doesn't have the sound I like. Lol

One thing that helped for me was removing the sound tube.

The internal sound tube + exhaust is loud b/c sound waves can amplify each other and they just combine to increase the overall volume.

So removing one sound source will help, and it is surprisingly quieter just after that simple sound tube delete.

Try that cheap fix first. Technically, you could try it free, just pull the tube off the firewall and put anything there, just to make sure no sound is coming in still. If it works, then buy the correct firewall grommet and rubber cap for airintake.

Perhaps but I don't even hear the intake induction sound anymore. It's the catless roar that drowns things out. But yeah maybe the sound tube for a couple decibels and a silencer combined will help. Every bit helps

If someone could, they should be given a medal. Unless you count road head.

The way its made that sound tube (+ little diaphram) makes a simulated engine sound. Its not just the suction of the intake noise you hear. Try it and post back your results.

Just keeping you on your toes! I personally can't contribute to the glass packing conversation, but like WhiteCali said I think Cutouts would be something to look into. I ran them on my '01 (Apples to Oranges, I know) but it was nice to go from mild to wild literally at the flick of a switch.

What's the worry exactly? You drive a Mustang GT. It's gonna be loud, deal with it. If she can't, then she smells and no body likes her.
