What kelvin hid bulb is everyone running?

Looking to get some 8000k or 10000k bulbs. Have 8000k on my truck and it looks good. I like the blue tint. Anyone else running a color other then stock?

5300-6000k, which is pure white. Any higher is 100% stupid, you lose visibility and hurt everyone's eyes.

I get flashed all the time because people think my factory LED HID's are high beams. Please don't. I hate that crap. I had a friend with a mazda protege and had aftermarket HID's in non HID lenses and it damn near burned out my retinas.

Make sure if you get HIDs they go in a legit HID/Projector housing.

My car has hid lights from the factory. It's just a matter of a different k ds3 bulb. Like mentioned, I have 8000k in my Denali, never get flashed never have even once. The color however is much better looking then stock and visibility is greatly improved. 8k is the highest I've ever gone through.

And I might add I have the headlight tints from AM, so mine are already going to be slightly dimmer anyways.

I personally don't see the need, considering we have factory LED HID's which are bright as hell. Not an over exaggeration, I get flashed at least once a night on my way home from work. I do just flash them back, and they look at me like I have 17 heads. Do you have night vision issues? I can't fathom any other reason why you'd want have a brighter output of light.

My car is an 11 with the factory HID option, not sure if they are led. As stated above, I have the AM headlight tints so they're dimmed down some as is.

Well, the tints I would assume dumb them down quite a bit lol. Do you really NEED the tints? I know in Western MA where I reside, that's a red flag to a cop....

Yes, they are needed. My car is a white with black themed. None of these cars NEED any aftermarket parts now do they... But what fun is that?! Cops don't mess with me, only the ppl that drive like retards. The tints don't dim them that much like say the covers but they do some.

At the risks of sounding blunt, that sir, is stupid. [Sarcasm]Yes, let's make both drivers of oncoming cars blind for several seconds.[/Sarcasm] Have you checked the alignment of your headlights? They may actually be set higher than you think.

So the projectors on the 14s are HIDs or LEDs? I know the fogs are led

I wanna say I remember reading somewhere they're a hybrid between both LED and HID. And yea the fogs are straight LED.

The running lights are LED. The headlight bulbs are HID.

I think this happens because of our factory projector HID's. It has to do with the sharp cutoff of the beam. I see this all the time on other brand/model vehicles with factory projectors. If your car is aimed slightly uphill of the oncoming vehicle or if your car is hitting bumps in the road causing it to bounce, it will look like your high beams are on momentarily to the oncoming car. Take notice of other late model Mustangs or other vehicles with projectors and you will see this is pretty common.

Going to a higher Kelvin bulb will NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, increase visibility. As you go up in K you go down in lumens.
You may notice an increase going from a factory 4300k bulb to a *high quality* 5000k or 6000k, but that is due to the quality of the bulb, not the increase in Kelvin. Any higher than 6000k and you will lose visibility, guaranteed. You'll also be inviting police to pull you over for yet another reason.

Yes, another thing to note is many lowering packages on these cars lower more in the rear than the front, which would cause the headlights to be angled up more. I doubt if a single person thought to re-align the headlights to correct for this.

Just like trucks. Look at all those people who get leveling kits or lift kits and never touch their headlights. You don't realize it but when you change the angle of the cars ride height you change how your headlights aim also.

So on a 2014 mustang we would be able to swap out just the bulb with the factory HID headlights? And if so, where do you purchase them and what size is the bulb?

Awesome, thank you!

Does anyone actually have any pictures of any of the other temp lights? I'd like to see 6000 and 8000k.

If you drive at night stick with 6000k or less. 8000k will start to drastically reduce your visibility.
