As with any legal subject, this can be very tricky. People interpret law differently even when they read the same thing. Best bet if your really worried about it would be get your actual Ford warranty and look up Magnuson-Moss Act and then do some reading. Everybody will have an opinion but not many people will understand that a judge or lawyer might read it differently then you or anybody that gives an opinion. And the final advice is if none of that makes you happy then just go talk to a lawyer that is familiar with that subject. Hope some of this is helpful

Your car came from the factory with a true CAI. There, problem solved.

CAI warranty

Bottom line: it's not worth the trouble and headache if you're worried about warranty for just a CAI and/or tune. It's not that big of a HP jump to go thru it.

But the more you do to your car the more likely the warranty will be voided. Remember this magnuson moss act was enacted in 1975 before all the technology of logging and measuring different parameters of the engine was feasible.

Arguing whether a tune or specific part was the cause of detonation isn't the same now as before.

Don't take this act as a pass for you to do as you please thinking that it's up to them to prove you caused the failure.

If you tune your car and the car melts a piston or blows a head gasket 10 miles later it's all there on the computer. No court will rule in your favor if the computer shows you loaded a tune and the engine failed very closely after that.

You gotta be willing to pay to play.

Don, as said b4, the tuned/untuned is the real important bit. I suggest talking with your servicing dealer. I like to build a relationship with them and make a point to say Hi to the sales department when I can. They are ones who are interested in you coming back. Legally Ford cant void your wtty just for a untuned CAI but they can (if they want) make it difficult for you. On my V6 I've put on shifter/cai/axle backs and my dealer is fine with those. None of those improve HP but they improve sound and the driving experience.

If you are looking for a safe tune ... then Steeda is a very safe, reliable & powerful way to go.

If you are looking to run a CAI without a tune ... then Steeda makes a no tune CAI ... that you can tune down the road.

Steeda ProFlow Mustang Cold Air Intake Kit - Manual GT, (11-14), No tune required! - Free Shipping!

Best Regards,

Unless that is ... he goes with our no tune & then tunes down road by removing the insert!

To answer original question by OP - 3rd post is helpful, but to summarize and extend, it's all dependent on where you go to service your car.

Some dealerships are very strict, others may be relaxed with aftermarket parts. Best bet is to go to your dealership of choice and ask the director what his take on warranty claims involving aftermarket parts is.

I'm a strong advocate as this as well.

Yes that insert. And OP your best bet is don't bring it up at the dealership. If u go in for work . Just take it off. I wouldn't let the dealership know what's done unless they do it them selfs
