Rev questions

I've spent hours reading threads on the boss 302 manifold. Ranging from its worthless to it makes 20+whp after 5800rpms. So ofcourse I don't know what to think. People says its a waste if you drag but worth it if you roll race or do highway stuff, which is what I'm into. Drags just aren't my thing. Idk

My real question is how high I should rev with the 6sp select shift auto to get the most out of my boss 302 without going higher than suggested for long life? I read somewhere ford claims the 5.0 motors can run all day at 7200rpms. Any thoughts on this guys??? I've read the whole point of the boss is to get tuned and rev a little higher otherwise its useless?? Everyone seems to have a different opinion.

Thanks in advance

Is it safe to rev that high in the AT transmissions? or is 7200 the limit? I hear about alot of people with the m6 going to 7800 and claiming its not a problem.

I feel like I've always heard AT's are usually a little weaker than manuals? As far as handling HP TQ and hard driving.

The auto in the 11 and up is Buller proof for the most part. Alot stronger than the manual

I run the Boss Intake with my auto and mine shifts at 7600 rpm. Anything less and you might as well just stick with the stock intake.

My best so far is 11.2 @ 121 mph so it's working pretty good for me.

Nice to know, thanks for the info.

I almost passed on this car because it was an AT but the select shift is really growing on me. I like it alot more than paddles. Very smooth and precise.

You can go higher on the autos. But you will need billet oil gears, and the high pulse ring
