4x4 No More!!!

Installed my SR lowering springs and J&M adj panhard bar from AM yesterday and couldn't be happier with the look and the ride quality. So happy to lose that ugly 4x4 fender gap.
Install wasn't too bad, even by myself on jack stands. I did separate one strut mount and had to track down all those damn ball bearings - jeez, those stockers are crap.

First drive was a 90 mile trip to the Angola Prison rodeo over varied highways, gravel roads, and a choppy pasture parking grounds. Car did great over all of it - no noises or harshness, and even the wife agreed the ride was improved. The annoying "porpoising" on accel and deceleration was virtually eliminated. Seems to have lessened the axle-hop to a degree as well - hopefully the LCA's I have on the way will get rid of most of it.

Being a daily driver, one of my biggest concerns was ride quality, and so far these SR springs have really impressed me. Add to that the perfect amount of drop I was looking for, and you have a winner in my book.

Thanks to all those who have posted and offered advice on this forum - invaluable info that I hope I can add to.

I'll post photos - I promise.
Finished the install late in the evening and didn't take any pics, and after the gravel roads and off-roading in the pastures she wasn't "camera ready".

I wish I didn't live on a dirt road. I want to lower mine so bad. Even though it's a great road for what it is I just don't feel safe. Especially since I want a Boss 302 exhaust and Roush Axle backs. I'll definitley be changing some suspension. I want some Koni Yellow and some things to help it out without dropping it.

I say go for it. With a moderate drop you'll be fine. Just don't treat the dirt roads like a track lol. Lowering makes such a visual difference and if properly done won't adversely affect driveability. I've driven over plenty of dirt roads already - and just left out of a driveway that looked like it was carpet-bombed - with no problems.

OP-Looking Good! I'm happy to see and hear that you're enjoying the SR's! I've run them on my '08 for quite some time now and they definitely shrink the gap!

Thanks! I'll be adding more soon, I'm sure with help from AM. Good to know you're running a set.

Like those wheels. Might be my next set, but I'm ok with the TrakPak wheels for now. Probably see you both on the streets, lol

Total time to do the springs and panhard bar was probably around 4-5 hrs.
I do have some wrenching experience, but this is also by myself on stands with no air tools. All-in-all it's not that difficult, but it's definitely something you should pay to have done if you're not comfortable doing that type of thing.
There's no instructions included with the SR springs, but there's a decent customer install guide on AM:
How to install Lowering Springs on your 2011-2013 Mustang
But an even better tool is this video from LMR:
S197 Mustang Lowering Spring Installation

We need to meet up some time. Compare notes, cars, etc.

There's a custom cruiser car show at Clearview Mall in Metairie on the 4th Saturday of each month. Next one is Nov 22, I'll probably go. Its mostly older cars, but there are quite a few new mustangs & vettes too.

Any car shows up in Baton Rouge? Cars & Coffee ? etc.

I want to go visit Stang-Hi Performance - Performace Parts and Upgrades for your Late Model Vehicle one day in the near future.

Thanks, I may just have to check them out. Just busted a tail light so would be a good excuse to do it. Can't believe how damn expensive a new one is...

Yeah, haven't replaced it yet. That's a pretty good price if it's a pair. I found a couple on Ebay for under $400, but I'm gonna hit up some contacts at a couple salvage yards tomorrow.
I just thought I'd be funneling money into new exhaust vs replacing a tail light...ugh.
