Removing hood vents?

What is the best way to remove the hood vents on the 2014 GT. I'm taking them off so I can have them painted.

Removing hood vents?

Its really easy. There is a small nut on the under side of the hood closest to the windshield. Just loosen that first, then there are clips holding from the front side of the vent and 3 on each side. Don't force it too much but they come out with no problems.

Do I have to remove the black cover under the hood first?

No you can get to the nut without having to remove that. You just have to bend it out of the way a little bit.

You don't have to remove the cover, but its quick and made it easier for me to take out the vents.

Carbon fiber hood vents by TruCarbon. Old vents came out easier after I removed the hood insulator. The bolt is a 9mm btw. Job only takes about 20 mins even if you take your time. Difficulty level novice.

I wanted to put LED's in mine. I'm worried it might distract driving, or be hard to get installed. Has anyone tried this? A little glow from under the hood would be great! Any suggestions?
