Ford Racing GT500 axle back exhaust

Looking for a mildly aggressive tone that is relatively quiet on the highway. Considering the GT500 axle back exhaust for my 2014 GT 5.0. Anyone have these? Likes? Dislikes?

My friend has these and loves them. There's a reason people recommend them. I went with a different exhaust, but seriously considered these.

There are a ton of ppl that run these mufflers. They sound amazing and do not drone.

1. They sound great. Perfect deep sound, no aggravating cabin drone.

2. They look stock (except for bigger tips). They're a Ford part.... they have FORD stamped on them.

3. They have big 4" tips that fill the rear valence perfectly. And don't stick out too far like some aftermarket tips.

4. Perfect OEM fit. They even come with these little plastic things that snap on each side to help you like them up / hold them in place.

5. They're one of the cheapest exhausts you can get.

6. See # 1, still not convinced see # 5.

There's really no reason to get anything else!

I haven't had anything else but the gt500 are perfect. They are loud when you get on it and tame while you're driving on the highway. I do a lot of highway driving so I know that's important.

Ford Racing GT500 axle back exhaust

What is the inlet size to those mufflers? I have magma flow 3" competition exhaust, they are a little to raspy at high revs under, and has the dreaded drone at highway cruising speed. Want to keep the cat pipes but switch mufflers. Anyone done this/ have that setup, meaning 3" pipes to gt500 mufflers.

See attachment. Mine installed. Crappy low light picture.

Or you could always look at pics of them installed on American Muscle:

You're looking on the wrong side. Yes, that's the top but that's not visible when installed or when the car is up on a rack. Check the bottom side!

Have them and love em! Wish I had the resonator less OTA piping, that's on my list. If it comes down to it, I could have them cut out and straight sections welded in, but I don't care for the ghetto look.

Roush is the way to go with resonator delete. Plus they weigh a lot less than the ones u are putting on

Really? what are the weights of the 2 axlebacks comparitively?

So you want to save weight why not just go straight pipes?

GT500's are a NICE compromise. They look stock, are louder and deeper but with out being obnoxiously loud. And they can sound pretty mild at idle or cruising at low rpm on the highway. Many minimalist mufflers can sound louder, but then they're loud ALL of the time, and often drone.

I have this exhaust with the OTA pipes off of a 2013 GT500 which has no resonators and it sounds great. Everything fits great and it looks factory other than the larger tips and tip design. I would highly recommend them.

I like them so well that I bought an extra set that someone was selling NIB for a great price in case mine get damaged or rust out at some point.

No need to wait. I installed my GT500s in the first week of having it.

It will probably be your favorite mod until you tune it.

I didn't wait long on putting exhaust on my car. That was one of my first mods. A catch can was my first.

Also bought pretty early on. Perfect sound on a stick car which I characterize like a combination of the Bullitt soundtrack and the sound of an Aston Martin V8 Vantage on low volume.

Muffler has passed 100,000 mile durability testing...is made of stainless steel (admittedly ugly but still rust-free 403), has oem fitment, sounds great and is inexpensive. What's not to like?

Here are a few pictures of the GT500 OTA pipes compared to the factory GT pipes for those who have not seen these pictures before.

Here is a picture of the mufflers installed on the car.

They are the same 2.75" size and are a direct bolt on. They came off of a 2013 GT500 that someone was parting out because of an engine fire.

Ok I'll get it sooner than later, just figured going into winter it's something cool for spring.. But it's stainless so it'll be fine. I plan on getting a beater next winter most likely..

Here is a crappy video that I took of my setup. I didn't rev it very high because the car was still cold.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if they are the same diameter, why would you swap them out?

It makes the exhaust a little louder without the resonators.
