Anyway... maybe I saw a different video. I saw the one in this thread and don't remember them addressing it. So if anyone actually knows I'd like to know. No riddles... just " Yes it does" or "No".

I am sure it does. They all seem to. Have you checked their website? If you look at the picture it does show it on there. http://www.mgwltd.com/2011-short_throw_shifter.shtml

Yes, it has the reverse lockout. It is the same in that aspect to the Gen 1 shifter.

You will have to call MGW, I spoke with George Friday and he said the phones were lighting up and didn't expect to have any of the first batch left after noon this past Friday. I'd still give him a call if you are wanting one to find out and if he is out, get your pre-order in for the next batch. The more people see, the more they will be sold out. Their number is 706.793.1770. Think they open at 8 EST.

I would do that but then I would have the struggle to have a shop take it off pay them ship it back and pay for shipping... Then wait a month for slow Christmas time shipping. Mah... I'll just get the blowfish and keep my MGW ... 👍

Looks like this is an adaptation of the gen2 GT500 shifter for the MT82. I can't +1 this thing enough. THIS is the design Ford should have used from the factory, not the limp dick noodle one they designed. And ppl wonder with the MT82 has a bad reputation for shifting as well as the GT500.

I've said it for awhile, most of the MT82 problems are a combination of the terrible shifter and the period of time people have been shifting with crappy shifters. Bad shifter design is going to put a lot more stress on the rest of the trans and wear it out faster, even if it was a good MT82 to begin with.

Laquisha,

I had a stock manual. Added the ss clutch line ( didn't notice much on that one), then the Blowfish bracket. The BF made a major difference and turned it into a good solid shifter. It does however have a lot of NVH , which I really don't mind, other than it vibrates something mid dash while accelerating around 2500-3000 rpms- and that sucks. I talked to BF and I had a V6 so I kinda had to jerry rig the bracket to get it to fit ( they first advertised it for all mustangs with the mt-82 then realized the V6 was different), so that might have something to do with it. BF says they have a new version to fit the V6 and have shipped it to me( haven't received it yet). I'll post again after changing that over to see if it quiets down. Also that they had an isolator in the works to handle the NVH, that's not ready to ship yet, but I'm looking forward to it. All in all I am happy with the BF and will keep it- but I'd like less NVH. If I hadn't purchased the BF I might be going with the MGW...

Having watched the MGW video, the BF bracket is now completely useless if you have this Gen2 MGW shifter. The MGW attachment arm and linkage make the new MGW completely rock solid, it does not move. They also dampen the vibrations with a soft rubber 2 post bracket in the back, dampners in the shifter handle and they use a rubber wrap around insert in the shifter side bushings on the linkage.

They are going to be releasing the S550 shifter shorty which is almost the exact same design as well. Only took someone what... 4 years to figure out the stupid MT82 design that Ford should have done themselves. I still can't get my mind around WTF they were thinking with the OEM shifters.

And if you've seen the S550 shifter "improvement" from Ford... lol.

IMHO, this is now a required mod for the MT82. Also should not have the NVH that the Blowfish bracket creates. I can't see ppl paying for the blowfish and a non-MGW or gen1 MGW instead of just ponying up for the new MGW MT82 shifter.

If you haven't watched the video posted by MGW on youtube, that should be on your calender if you are any sort of Mustang fan at all. When they literally lift up the MT82 by the shifter linkage and NOTHING moves... yeah...

How difficult would this assembly be to install yourself?

For someone who does all their own work and is confident with tools, not that bad. They'll do an install video I'm sure. MGW says they can do it in one hour. If you are close to their shop in Georgia, they'll install it for free.

Mine ships Wednesday. I'm hoping this thing is leaps and bounds better, because I literally just installed the gen 1 mgw, and before that I had a tri ax. Tons of money thrown away on shifters.

That's a damn good deal for install with MGW. Sadly I'm in MA lol. I'll probably tackle it with a pal once I pull the trigger. The holidays are tough lol

Well they'll credit you $200 for the MGW Gen 1 and I'm sure you could (or did) sell the Tri-Ax to recoup some $$$.

Eh... maybe. MGW is also having a sale on the Gen1 shifters. Although I have ZERO clue why you'd run anything but this unit now that its out.

Yeah I'll recoup some cash. I'm about to put my rough axle backs and steeda tri ax and bracket up for sale. Selling them as a package for $250 for all three.

Just saw on facebook for those who have MGW already they are making a retrofit bracket to make it "almost" a gen2. I'd still buy the Gen2 but w/e.

Blah. Oh well. Again, I'd just order the Gen2. MGW has really gone above and beyond with revisions of the GT500 and MT82 shifters. Most other companies would have just left well enough alone once they came out with a really good product. Not these guys...

My race spec shipped today! UPS says wont deliver until next Monday

Talking to George about install he said it will be quicker than the 1st gen. You will have to unbolt your trans cross member and let the trans hang to reach the bolt the stock shifter bracket attaches with. Pre assemble your desired bushing configuration and bolt it in. No farging around with the stock shift rod and cleaning off weld slag etc.

They sold out the gal in the office today was busy! She said next batch ready in a couple weeks.

Yeah apparently the pre-orders for the next batch are either all filled or damn near. Wow... Just goes to show how goddamn bad the 11-15 shifter setup really is.

And I feel kind of bad for Blowfish... their bracket is now completely useless and does not address the stock shifting linkage no matter how solid the mount is. Oh well lol. #capitalism

maybe, just maybe, the mt82 isn't that bad a transmission, it's possibly the victim of ****ty linkage as George explained in the video, can't wait to get one! I take my car in to the dealership December for clunky shifting and occasional popping out of second. hopefully they'll fix or replace it under warranty and I can add this beautiful piece MGW has come out with

This shifter might just fix your issues by itself if the dealer won't. I'd also get the Whiteline insert for the trans mount bushing. Its $30 and will take literally 10 seconds extra to install if you are doing the shifter anyway since the crossmember will be unbolted.

And yes you are correct, I don't think the MT82 is a bad trans, its the goddamn Ford shifter design that just sucks unbelieveable amounts of ***. This is backed up because even the GT500 has shifting issues and those use a Tremec 6060 which is a top of the line unit. MGW had to come out with a fix for that shifting setup too and the OEM GT500 setup is at least as bad, if not worse, than the MT82.
