Will do! I added a cf driveshaft too. The car feels a lot different. So far...shifting at high rpm feels the same as low rpm. It's rock solid at all rpms. Feels like a t-56

Not that I've heard so far. Been driving with the radio on though.

It was fine. No big deal. My brother and I did it at his shop on a lift. Took about an hour with two sets of hands.

no NVH at any RPM's. I have had it installed for a few weeks now. I haven't gotten locked out in any shift.

does it help with the infamous "syncro nibble" when cold? I feel alot of this is caused by the multi jointed shift linkage that is done away with

That's actually from the fluid mostly. When the fluid is cold it's way thicker and causes a little nibble. This shifter has improved that so far though, although it hasn't been very cold though.

I love my barton and have no problems with 7800+ shifts.
So no reason for me to purchase the mgw. But I did order the bushing that goes on the stock arm.

Just got mine today, out with the blowfish bracket, even though it works great and gave me no rattles or obnoxious vibrations.. Click image for larger version

Haha, yea I'm a Ford and Mopar guy... Vintage Mopars allow me to buy parts for my Fords and put a roof over my head.. They are what I specialize in and the bulk of my business... But I do still get the occasional Ford or GM in from time to time...

NEW MGW RACE SPEC SHIFTER is now available!!

Installed MGW Race Spec shifter today. It went in easily and works awesome. Absolutely no NVH and very smooth shifts. I did drive the car and warm up the transmission before making the lockout adjustment. A well done, precision kit. Well done George.

Definitely a great shifter... No noise or vibration and no more lock out .....other than the dust boot ( which is always the ***** with these cars and any shifter) it was a easy install... Loosening the mid pipe to h pipe sleeve connectors were need to get that extra to pull the upper mount bolt out.. But that was it. Great piece!!

I switched to this from a gen II MGW with blowfish bracket. I have noticed I can hear the exhaust and the transmission noises a lot more. I made sure the dust boot is properly seated and I installed the sound pads that go under the center console. I'm thinking about putting some dynamat or similar on the underside of the trans tunnel. Any other ideas?

Also, I have noticed when I put the shifter into reverse it touched the side of the shift boot ring in the console. Is this normal for this sifter?

Mine is quiet as stock for the most part. I would re-check boot etc. Not sure what you mean with the reverse other than the shifter location in the trans tunnel hole is close to the drivers side.

I installed mine before the video so I put the boot on from the top. Biggest PIA of the whole install. Worked it around like a bike tire used a screwdriver on the outside ring carefully. Took a while and patience.

Review the video George from MGW made regarding the adjustment of the lock out pin. He also explains and demonstrates the purpose of why he designed that pin the way he did. I push against it going into first and pull against it going from 1to 2. Downshifting from 3to 2, it acts as a guide to pull against. Hope this helps.

I adjusted the pin like the video instructed. The shifter only touched the trim when in reverse. No issues 1-2. It's not really a problem. I just wanted to know if anyone else noticed.

Well, I thought so. I didn't make note of the direction when I took it off. Does anyone know for sure if this will shift the trans?

Looks like you can't reverse it... I'd loosen the mounts of the crossmember and force it to the passenger side... The holes are slotted and oversized... The noise you have also make me think it's rubbing the shifter hole on the driverside...

I will check that in the morning. The noise doesn't sound like a vibration though. The trans and exhaust noise just sounds louder than normal. At first I thought I forgot to install the sound mat that comes with the kit. Kinda strange.

If the trans or shifter is touching the body it will not necessarily rattle, but will amplify the engine and driveline noise.

Well that has to be the problem then. I'll check it out in the am and report the results. Thanks for all the help!

I never pulled the cross member off the trans and mine shifts fine adjusted correctly and when in reverse the shifter is damn close to the trim ring. Just the way it is.

Lol! I try not to drive around in reverse, the local law frowns on that... It doesn't bother me, I just wanted to know if that was normal or if I somehow misaligned something.

And the exhaust noise doesn't really bother me either. I just hate hearing every click and clack from the transmission. I didn't hear all that with the last MGW. I'm going to go underneath and make sure everything is sealed up and possibly add some dynamat to the trans tunnel.

lol I was just busting your balls man, as far as hearing all the clicking into gear, Id say thats pretty normal with the race spec, its going to have a more mechanical feel/sound because of the direct linkage it now uses

I knew you were kidding. No offense taken. I crawled under the car and made sure everything was adjusted and where it needed to be. I guess that sloppy OEM linkage helped deaden some of the trans noise. I will add a bit of Dynamat to the trans tunnel to help with the noise.
