NEW MGW RACE SPEC SHIFTER is now available!!

I know some of you may have heard about the new MGW race spec shifter. Well it has been officially announced today. I have been using it for 2 weeks on my 2013 Mustang GT/CS and it's my DD. Let me tell you, there is absolutely nothing like it on the market.
I had the Blowfish bracket, which don't get me wrong is an improvement in itself but nothing like this new shifter! It is the previous MGW shifter greatly improved. It gives you a better feel and all with no vibration.
Going between gears with this shifter is so smooth. I can't describe the amazing feel of this. There is nothing like it on the market and there won't be any Barton or MGW threads anymore. Will just be plain MGW.
This is my first ever MGW shifter and it trumps anything I've every had in the past. I had the blowfish bracket and after using this shifter for just one day, I put it up for sale and haven't looked back.
The price is $487 and if you send back your gen 1 MGW shifter back they will refund you $200 for your core exchange.
They are selling the first batch right now. Not sure how many are left. Call MGW at 706.793.1770.
Check out a pic of it on their facebook page

Can you still use the Blowfish Bracket with the new race spec shifter? I am guessing yes

I'm not sure, The only advantage I see to doing that would be the driveshaft safety loop.

Damn...I just got the old one. I was going to get the blow fish bracket, but it'll actually be cheaper just getting the new mgw and sending my old one in for the $200 credit. I wonder how much improvement there really is.

Does the new shifter tie the trans and the shifter box together?

It replaces the shifter linkage and has a massive Trans brace that connects the shifter to it. The bracket still attaches to the body, but it doesn't need to, they do this because the bracket soakes up some nvh. I didn't realize how crappy the linkage was and how many pivot points it had. I'm pretty sure this will be the end all be all shifter for the mt-82. All other brands might as well close up shop if they're not designing they're own version. I'm sure mgw has several patents on it too, so you most likely won't see anyone willing to create they're own version. Smart move mgw. I just wish they would have told me that this was coming out when I ordered mine last week.

Awesome! Thanks. Looks great and overall, it's less money than buying the "old" MGW and a Blowfish bracket.

the mechanics of this new design still has me confused, I mean, I'm sure George and his guys have tested it to the max, but it seems to me, there will be binding since it's still mounted to the chassis, and the motor will move under heavy load, what am I missing here? they stiffened everything in front of the rear mount, as opposed to the gen 2 design, but they still mount it to the chassis, with the now stiffened design, why still mount it to the chassis? I don't see how this will work. that being said, I'll be ordering one after the holidays lol

Many movement doesn't get past the brace. It could be hooked unhooked to the body...doesn't matter because it's not moving t because of the brace. You need to watch the video to fully understand it.

I was just reading some guys post on the blowfish and he is having tough times with vibration and nvh. He is not alone as others have shared the same thing. Standard MGW with blowfish is 685.00 or the new one for 485.00. After my research Race Spec all the way.

I ordered mine about 10 days ago and George said that about 2/3rds of the initial 50 the made were spoken for so I bet they still have a few on hand.

Installed the Barton shifter and blowfish brace today. Sounded like an old electric football game. Not acceptable at all. Reinstalled the stock shifter with the blowfish bracket and it quieted down tremendously. Still can hear the "buzz" from the vibration. Going to pull the bracket and order the race speck from MGW. Hope they have the NVH worked out.

Bummer sorry to hear that. If you watch the video I posted George goes into detail on how they address the NVH. The rear shift bracket is really not needed for support anymore it just helps eliminate NVH. These guys really nailed this shifter from the looks of it. Hope to have mine on next week. I will post up when I do.

I was thinking of getting the track key how do you like yours? Worth the $$?

Big jay, I like the track key. It works for me. Call around different dealers before choosing one to install it. The dealers around me never heard of it. Chose a dealer in San Diego who had already done a few. I bought it through the dealer so if they did have trouble they couldn't say the key you brought us is no good. Don't want to start a "tune" debate. Keep in mind you can't have too many other mods done. I especially like the loping idle and the launch control. You may want to check the track key thread.

I watched the video, but unless I missed something ( I'm not perfect ) , they didn't mention it. So, Clearsky, I thought I'd ask... do you know?

I think it was mentioned during the part where the adjustment screw for first gear was addressed if I remember correctly.
