Kooks Shorty Headers...

I just got the Boss 302 H pipe and side exhaust installed on my 2014 5.0 along with the roush axelbacks, JLT CAI and SCT tune. Now I am thinking about adding the Kooks shorty headers. I read you can get up to 20hp more combining them with the h-pipe and tune. Are shorty heads worth it?

Well you won't get 20 horsepower that's for sure. And it's the same amount of work as longtubes. Worth it for the money? Not in my opinion.

1) depends on what you want to do some guys are into total horsepower so you'll definitely make more with long tube headers, but at the expense of lower end torque and horsepower.
2) it is not as much work to install short tube as oppose to long tube, unless you are deleting cats. If you need to meet emissions then you will need to use a catted pipe with long tubes and extend o2 sensor harnesses
Just to point out, not all horsepower gains are equal different mods will increase your horsepower but in different rpm ranges, which may not be effective for your application.
I would suggest you look at horsepower/ torque curves to see where hp increases occur.
To me hp @ 7 k rpm is not all that useful.

You will not lose any low end torque or horsepower with longtubes. That's just not true.

It's the same amount of work doing longtubes and shorties.

No need to extend the stock harness as it will reach plenty once you relax it on top of the transmission.

Only time a shorty would be beneficial over a longtube is if you planned on going with one of the single turbo setups.
Other than that just go with longtubes.

if you're going through all the hassle of a header install, just do long tubes

Shorties are a waste of time and money, the factory manifolds are basically already a shorty header. Go with long tubes, as stated above you will not loose anything vs Shorties. And you can't beat the sound.
