Good Saturday for me

Today I picked up this 2011 gt 6speed but its going to sleep in the garage for at least 2 months while I learn to drive manual in this 99 s10 which I also got right after I got the 5.0. Ive been practicing on the s10 all day and it seems pretty easy.. only hard part is getting it in 1st lol dies most of the time :/ I guess I need to learn to ease the clutch. . Anyways the 5.0 is beautiful been looking for a grabber blue for months till I saw this one this morning and jumped on it.. I also love the s10 really nice truck. . Im planning on ordering a tune tonight from am as first mod. But want to ask here first what should I mod first. Thanks

Congratulations on the purchase! But you bought a car without test driving it?

Don't mod it just yet and drive the car first!.. S10 to 5.0 is a huge difference!.. Plus plan your build before you just start throwing mods on!.. You'll save more money that way!..

The first manual transmission car I bought was a 2011 gt500. I had to get the sales guy to teach me how to drive it so I could drive home. Fun times.

First thing you need to mod is your left foot so you can ease off the clutch and put your foot on the gas. Nice looking car by the way.

I can recall my first manual transmission; a 64 VW Beetle (I wonder how many folks in "my age" catagory learned to drive manual on a VW?).

I begged my dad to "teach me". He took me to a mall parking lot on a Sunday morning, sat in a lawn chair, and told me to drive forward, then reverse for about an hour. That got me the "feel" of a clutch. Then he took me to an area of the parking lot that had a hill, and I did the same.

I learned.

Today I drove the mustang and I was surprised because its easier than the s10. In the s10 I have to let the clutch out more than half way in order for it to move and in the mustang its easier I just have to let the clutch out a lil bit idk maybe cus the s10 is older ? A friend said i could adjust the clutch pedal

I learned to drive stick shift when I was 13, my stepdad used to let me drive it up and down the apartment complex he managed to get tools. A year later I was driving the truck all over town, doing burn outs into third gear on an old 88 toyota pickup. Fun times, although I never liked being on an incline with a stick shift.

Especially seeing as this is your first stick shift and the 11-14 GT has a horrific stock shifter, place an order for the new MGW Race Spec shifter RIGHT NOW. Because if you place a pre-order now it literally might be a few months before you get one with the rate they are selling. Also get the whiteline transmisison bushing insert.

You have to call MGW about the new shifter, it is NOT the one on the website, its totally new. The Whiteline bushing is like $35 on CJP.

For a tune, go with AED/Lund/MPT. Stay away from Bama and Steeda and the other canned tunes.

And anyway congrats with the 11! Love grabber blue and it looks good. Always preferred the 11/12 to the 13/14 myself. What are your plans for the car?
