What do you think of these two options? (2 2011 GTs)

Hey boys and girls,

I currently own a black 2014 v6 auto with 8,000 miles. I love the car but I've got that nagging voice in the back of my head that keeps telling me to go get more horsepower and just upgrade to a v8! I've browsed around in my area and found 2 2011 GT Premiums 6 speed. I've posted the window stickers below for you guys to see. The carfax both reports 2 previous owners for the vehicles. No accidents or anything negative reported. I plan on going to see them sometime this week when I get time.

For the sake of this thread, let's assume they are both good condition in and out. I've also listed anything I've notice that isn't listed in the window sticker.

The RACE RED one has ~37,000 miles @ $22,500 (2 previous owners)
-5.0 shiftknob
-roush catback

The KONA BLUE one has ~18,000miles @ $23,500 (2 previous owners)
-Kona blue shiftknob
-Flowmaster exhaust

I've also attached a pic of the red car. They don't have any pics of the Kona Blue at the moment They're both certified so I'd enjoy the 12mo/12k comprehensive warranty as well as the 7yr/100k powertrain warranty.

What do you guys think? I wouldn't be crazy for going from a 2014 to a 2011, right? The mileage on either of those looks very decent.

I appreciate any constructive feedback to this discussion! Thank you very much.

All things being equal, the red one is two years older mileage wise. I vote Blue.

I see private party 2014 gt's going for just a couple grand more. I would be patient you are in a buyers market right now for the 2011-14. You will likely see guys trying to sell there own because the dealers will not be allowing much for trades with the new body style. There is a local 14 premium brembo with 15k on the clock for 24500 here. But if you had to pick from the 2 posted the blue one. It's possible both have been tuned so I would want them to confirm that it remained stock if warrantee is important to you.

I've never bought from a private party before. I never know what I might get in to when doing that... I guess if I were to buy a 2013/2014 used GT with less than 36k miles, I'd still have the factory warranty if anything were to go wrong from the previous owner, right?

Yes the warranty travels with the car. 3/36000 5/60000 powertrain. Buy anything that has been tuned and you risk a powertrain related claim being denied so ask questions backed up by do you mind if the dealer inspects the pcm. Only saying this because I get the feeling warranty is important to you.

I've seen brand new 2014 basic GT models going for as low as $27000. Might as well get new.

I agree with some of the other guys. I would just be patient and wait to find a newer one! But if you truly want one of those two, I would definitely pick the kona blue one! Cheers!

I'd say the blue one. Looks very well optioned. Seems the 11/12 gt are much more rare then the 13/14, well around here anyways. Don't know actual production numbers. Personally like the more retro actual muscle car front end look of the 11-12 also. Just seems I see the 13/14 everywhere and kinda resemble a charger front end just a bit. That being said it's all about preference. *** end of the 13/14 definitely looks better to me. The 13/14 also seem to be having some paint problems in a lot of areas. On the 11-12 just check closely on the nose of the hood usually above the headlights. That's where they seem to have the paint issue if present. If there's any bubbling present make sure the dealer agrees to address and fix the issue.

Just test drove the KONA. It had a JLT intake. Don't those REQUIRE a tune? Dealer wasn't very well informed on the mod aspect but I thought JLT = tuned car. Also, engine did some funky cam-like looping for the first 10 secs when I started it up (it was 5 miles to E if that might be a cause?).

It drove fine but I'm a bit weary of the tuned aspect and the way the motor acted up on start up. Gonna go check out the RED one now.

May hold off until later/after winter like many have suggested.

Was probably tuned and now maybe not. My car starts like that when first returned to stock. Yes you should have a tune with the jlt.

Between the two, sounds like the blue one is the best bet. Regardless, I would offer 22 even....then walk away if they won't budge. Come back in a couple of days and see if they changed their minds. There are plenty of used Coyote V8 Mustangs around these days.

There's 2 by me as reference. One is a 11, 47k a6 leather, comfort package, heated seats navi. 21,500 lowest they will go. Have a buddy tried getting it for 21 they won't do it. Another is a 12 34k miles. Premium m6 navi, glass top every option. 24,900 bottom. Won't even go 24 even. That was a week ago. No budging yet. However now is the best time to buy. Come near the end of the month here they'll probably move some more. Either way if they can get more from you then at auction they'll let it go.

So the red one didn't seem to have any probs. Had the stock airbox as well. The $22,500 was a no haggle price but the salesman took me aside afterwards after I asked about negotiation and he hinted about possibly being able to go down to $20,500 or $21,000 plus tax/fees.

I'm having the KONA transfered to the dealer where the RED one is because that salesman seemed a lot more negotiable and helpful. Will go see it again tomorrow and see what price we can work for it.

I'll also have to mention the tune aspect which works heavily in my favor, in my opinion.

The JLT is tuned. If you're not 100% comfortable with footing the bill for power train breakdowns then go with the red. Or find another car.

And should the dealer "promise" you that they will honor warranty work get it in writing and make sure that the writing states very specifically that should Ford deny service then the dealer will service it at no cost to you.

Don't trust dealers and car salesman on empty promises.

Keep looking around and be patient. The blue car has been modded I would not touch it from a dealer. The only way I would ever ever consider a modded car would be from the owner with complete history data logs etc. I know lower price seems good but you can do much better. It is hard not to get excited and emotional with a car like this but take a breath and remember these cars are plentiful. Be picky it will reward you!

Bought my 14 Brand new for 26,500 but it only had the sync package and power adjustable drivers seat, with that being said I think I got a pretty good deal on it.

Yeah, I think OP should shop around for a dealer with some 2013-2014 inventory.... new or used.

My local dealership has been unloading the (new) 2014's like hotcakes. They sold 3 in one day when I stopped in to pick up my license plate. I got mine for almost $9k below the sticker including rebates.

Now that the 2015's are in stock, any 2014's on the lot should be selling for invoice price or below + the big rebates still in effect.

And there are people who will be trading in their 2013 or even 2014's b/c they want the newest model. I think I've already decided to not too much more money in to my 2014, b/c I know in another year or 2 I'm going to want to upgrade to the new bodystyle.

All 14s in my area flew off the lots about 5 months ago My friend is actually going to trade his 2010 GT for the red 2011 GT so I let him have that option. I'm probably going to continue my search after the winter passes.

Gonna email back and forth about the Kona just to see how low the dealer is willing to go so I can have a good idea of how they negotiate when the time actually comes.

I find dealing with them online works great. When you go in to the dealerships, they try to get you to wait around... (committ yourself by spending a lot of time there)... then wear you down to just take their deal.

The past 2 vehicles I've bought I was in & out very quickly, b/c everything was already done in advance via phone calls. I just showed up & signed some paperwork & drove off.

Yea, that's what I'm doing now. I specifically said the best and most likely only way to contact me reliably will be via email. That allows me to keep track of everything said and have some form of documentation to refer back to should I decide to pull the trigger. They left me a voicemail last night, obviously. So by email I respond :p

Plus, email gives you time to think without any possible pressure they may impose over the phone

I've seen new 14's going for 30k. In sure the dealer would even go a little lower. Plus you'll get a warranty. That's if you can afford it.

There's some low mileage 13/14 5.0's by me going for about 23k. I'm planning on trading up for one in a couple months. Winter is the best time to buy and get the best deal possible. As soon as spring comes around watch the prices climb.

Two months ago I bought my 14 with 2,760 miles for $26,500(from a Chevrolet dealer). It has TrakPak, Recaro Seats and some other options, but it came with a Airaid intake and SCT tunner. I've already done the Sportline springs and Whiteline panhard bar and can't wait to do a lot more.
I had been looking for about 2 months and found many 13/14's before I made an offer. I'd keep looking for a low mileage 12/14. Oh yes, it would concern me that a 18000 mile car had two owners...............my question would be why???????
