A tune is not something you should be pinching your pennies on. You will apparently learn the hard way though.

I got the new tune loaded up and I do feel the difference in shifting. It's a little firmer and faster when it comes to trans. Is the car faster? Mmmm only a track test will figure that out. I still need to data log but with only intake and exhaust I'm sure there isn't much to fine tune.

So then the question becomes was it worth the switch? That may be a hard question to answer since it did cost you an extra $250. Will you be running both tunes at the track?

I have made a best of 12.18 @ 113 MPH, with my current tune, my car has stock exhaust, sans GT500 Mufflers, and some suspension work,m with stock factory tires. I got my tune elsewhere, and I will be datalogging my car in spring to send Mike the results, and see what he might be able to improve on from my present tune. I enjoyed talking with him, and he did an outstanding job with my friends car. I might be able to compare as well, if he find anything he can change from my present tune.

Well finally had chance to get to the track for testing the bama tune I must say I'm pretty impressed. Only tried the performance tune each time I was consistently 8 tenths faster than what I got on the stock tune. Don't know how much better the race tune is but the performance tune really had me goin. I'm satisfied with bama!

my wife washed my jeans with the other slips but I have no reason to lie. I was able to get 12.60 and 12.64 on two other runs with 1.7 60ft. The 13.22 was my best stock time.

I'm kind of with you in that most tunes are about the same for MANUAL transmissions. We all have the same engines, yes we have different configurations, but we're all limited to the same 5.0L engine, so there is a limit to the power that can be made with basic bolt ons, until you go in to the internals, injectors, etc.. Most tunes give about 30+ hp, and there's only so much you can do with out pushing too far & blowing things up.

I believe where Mike Rousch may shine (from all the hearsay) is that he must have a better understanding of (tuning) the automatic transmission and this is where I see there being a lot of room for differences in tunes. Its like the difference in drivers (skills) on manuals, and everyone knows how big of a difference that can be. As the automatic is essentially "driving" the car for you.. all you're doing is point the steering wheel straight... (sorta).

I'll be interested in the feedback also. I have a 14 Auto and will tune the car sometime in the near future, though I've been leaning towards the "weakest" tune (Ford Pro Cal) of them so I have a warranty still.
I went with this approach, I have a 2013 auto and also wanted to keep the warranty.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to take the car to the strip since tune. Only other mod on the vehicle is BBK shorty headers. Best time 12.9 on street tires.
Car's going away for the winter shortly and I have only driven it to and from work once since the tune.
I base no estimates on "seat of pants" /etc. because of course its going to feel stronger, I just spent 300 bucs on the vehicle!
I will say this, it seems louder when I first start it and the pedal lag is gone.
I'll probably run it in March or April when the track reopens and see what it changed.
Then I'll do a couple of suspension mods to address wheel hop and get a set of drag radials.

I run 87 in mine most of the time (flame suit is on.) There is not much opportunity to play on my daily drive to work and back so I figure why waste the $6.50 per tank just to be able to romp on it every now and then.

If one is tuned, those $6.50 bucks are worth every penny if one has to feel any actual gains.

Cool Tune

I ran 93 since I got the car. I don't know about 2011 and 2012's but the 2013 picks up 8-9 hp with the higher octane fuel. The difference in price here (western PA) is $0.30 a gallon so it works out to 5.10 a tank, so I give up a craft beer a week!
What I find funny is the Sunoco stations around here offer 87, 89, 91 and 93. The 91 is 0.02 cheaper than the 93 that's a savings of 34 cents so why bother.

93 is .45 more here. I ran 93 two or three times and did not feel a difference so went back to 87. If I eventually get a tune, I will commit to 93. I will need better tires, too if I actually want to be any faster. These stock 235 Pirelli's break loose in 2nd with the automatic on most surfaces.
