Longer crank than normal

Hey guys I have been away from the forum for a while but I am searching for help. This has happened sporadically but now it has begun to get me nervous and annoyed.
I have a 2011 GT with CAI, tune, boss intake manifold.
I go to start my car and it cranks longer than normal before start up. Sometimes it just cranks and keeps cranking. When it does this i usually turn the key to the off position and try to start the car again. It usually does it about 2/3 times before a normal start up when it occurs. It has happened while the car is warm and it has happened while the car is cold. I thought misfire but I don't know if I am right. If you know what my issue is please let me know and how to fix it if you know that. My warranty is up so I would rather not go back to Ford.

Possibly fuel related. Try changing your fuel filter.

Filter can be had for under $20 and only takes about 5 mins. to replace. It's located under a shield on the driver side under car and that cover removes with a few 10mm bolts. No special tool required as the new quick disconnectors are a push button. Be sure to disconnect the battery 1st and remove fuel pressure or at least have the car sit over night so you don't get a face full of gas. Enjoy...

Sounds like your fuel pressure is bleeding off. If you have a gauge, you can test it at the fuel rail. Just attach it to the schrader-valve at night, then check it in the morning. It should hold for that long. There is a check valve to stop the pressure from dropping, but I don't know where in the fuel system it would be. Hopefully someone will help you out with that.

Ford has a TSB on the '11 built before 8/16/2010 for the long crank to start issue. The dealer updates the software in the ecu...

This thread died years ago. I would suggest you start a new thread.

I just want to know how that guy thought the fuel filter was in the front, when it's actually on the pump
