Superchargers , Whos the lightest ??

Not sure if anyone has asked this
But do the Paxton and Vortech chargers weigh LESS
then those over the top Roush, Whipple style superchargers

If so, why would anyone buy the manifold style over the
turbo style ?

They both can make about the same HP

Forget the number, they have different characteristics. A positive displacement supercharger (one on top of the engine) will make instant power, where the centrifugal style (turbo looking one) still has to build boost, and doesn't make nearly as much torque. The centrifugal has the lag of a turbo, but not near the amount of torque it gives. Some centrifugal superchargers even have more spool up time than a properly sized turbo.

Maybe ? but will a 130 lbs on top of the Manifold, make the front end feel like its a tugboat vs the maybe 50lb Vortech

Btw, those roots style superchargers supposedly really heat up and loose HP after driving them a few hours,

Which explains the elaborate and costly plumbing for those monster heat exchangers on the new Hellcat

This article explains why

The Roush/Whipple blowers are not a roots type blower so that article doesn't apply here.

They do not require major cooling.

And fix your avatar.

If you've upgraded your springs and struts, which you should do anyway, the added weight won't be a problem. Your also replacing the OEM manifold with theirs. The cooling systems work, not sure what "major cooling" is.

The Roush supercharger has an Eaton TVS rotor pack which makes it a roots blower.

I would take the weight and larger intercooler for the instant kick and more torque but it all depends on driving style, application, and expectations.
