2013 GT power shift. Louddddd noise

So tonight i did a quick 1-2 gear exchange against another 2013 5.0 and while going into 2nd gear, i clutched in shifted then got locked out so i got scared and jammed it in and clutched out and heard a loooouddddd clunk. Almost like i spit fire but im aure i didnt. I continued driving amd the clutch feels fine and shifter feels fine. You think everything is fine. No leaks are present

You shouldn't be power shifting AT ALL with a stock mt 82 shifter and bracket. These are two weakest links, there are numerous people (including myself) who have bad their fair share of problems while shifting from 2-3.

Get MGW's new race spec shifter before your transmission is toast - most likely if you're a bit into spirited driving.

I know. I already ordered the shifter but my god, it was scary. Its like there was no gear there. Should i look at anything specific to be sure nothing is broken or whatever haha

Having driver a MT82 for good 2 years, I know your pain haha. You're GOING to have problems with stock shifter for sure if you're driving it hard.

Is your car shifting okay at the moment? If so, I wouldn't be too bothered. 2-3 gear is a common problem due to ****ty stock rubber bracket, it's not grippy enough under spirited runs.

Ps: avoid 'power shifting' even with your MGW - you might need to upgrade your clutch first

Let me get this straight, you shift keeping the gas floored and fanning the clutch pedal while jamming into the next gear at redline as the motor over revs into and past the soft limiter? ...incredibly abusive to the entire drive line, it's not a race car ...expect to break things. And don't count on Ford paying for the abuse.

Jesus.

Even in my 88gt I didn't do that. I could shift fast enough letting off gas and clutch in. That's a good way to hear a *SNAP!*

Good luck.

I let off the gas about almost all the way, then shifted into second. Got locked out but then it jammed in then i engaged the clutch. Maybe the RPMS dropped to quickly so when the clutch engaged the plates slammed together?

whats the best way yall have shifted with the stock setup? Im still new toward manual, it was one of the first times I practiced taking off. The 1-2 seems really hard at times if im not on a perfectly flat road. I mean usually I granny it but letting off the clutch entirely and shifted, then adding gas and clutching in but its quite slow (maybe .6-.7 seconds?). It just scared the **** outta me when i heard the huge slam

Not to sound like a dork but when I learned how to quick shift it was off you tube. Practice practice practice and know the the car. I have friends that can do the crazy fast gas always floored and clutch shift stuff but man when they miss a gear, the noises that come from the car are insane.

Yeah I power shifted my 03 cobra. Once and I mean once, it was fun as hell but being sideways in 3rd gear isn't always a good thing

Yep the actual meaning of power shifting is when you have your gas pedal floored and you're snaping the clutch in and out without lifting your foot off of gas.

Ronnie Sox was one of the best at power shifting down the 1320, quicker than the autos of the day could shift, he was called Mr. 4speed. A lost art in super stock class.

A few years ago I saw a video of Nissan gtr r-34 or 33 racing a buggati. That dude's power shifting was super sick! Quick as lightning
