Unless he's on a lease agreement - he might have to pay a big chunk if he got his v6 just recently

You should wait until you own it to trade it. Try that.

I would probably advise against it due to the almost guaranteed negative equity you have on it

This. I got 21k for my v6 trade in, and I was still in $3k negative equity after owning it for year and a half

Even if he waits to own it before trading it in he's lost money due to devaluation and also he's lost time on enjoying the vehicle he really wants and also he'll have to settle for a 13-14 GT with higher mileage in presumably lesser repair.

It's the time part that he can't buy back. Not with all the money in the world. I say if OP wants the GT bad enough and can afford it go for it now.

If you're $3k, $4k, or whatever negative on your trade-in, the question you have to ask is: Is a few thousand dollars worth 2, 3, 4 years of your life driving something you don't really want? Consider also in 2-4 years your trade in value maybe be half.

+100! His trade in vehicle's value is gonna go down exponentially, especially now with the launch of '15 models.. not his mortgage by so much.

Just follow your hunch man, if you really want a coyote go get it but do look around at a bunch of places to get an idea how much they're worth, don't just settle at 1 place.

you must keep it as long as a piece of string....Zen Wisdom

translated to English = whenever you want to feel the pain of depreciation go for it.

Although the 5.0 is great motor, I would think for the amount of money you'd lose you could wake up the V6 quite a lot.
Now with that said just a few months ago I bought a used 14 GT with TrackPak, Brembo, Recaro, and Tech/Sync options with 2700 original miles for less than $27k. That's $10k less than sticker.
So, let your pocket book be your guide.

Did it have boogers under the seat?

I would never want to sit in a seat that some dude has been farting in for 2700 miles. Personal preference I guess.

No, no boogers under the seat and the car still had that new car smell.
So what do you do when you go out to eat at a restaurant, bring a spare chair with you..................obviously a lot different people have sat in that chair and farted.............

I generally have a decent down payment on cars or trucks. After 2 years of my Premium 2013 V6 [got early in 2012] thinking I would never need a V8; I traded it very early this year on a 2013 Premium GT with Mt-82 with 5K miles as a certified car and 100K BtB warranty. I was about 6-7K in positive equity. I said I would never need to do it, then said I would not do it and just boost the V6. Fact was buying the GT was a better buy then boosting the V6 in the long run plus a got a Manual instead of the Auto.

Edit: by that time my V6 had a MPT ghost cam tune, Steada huge intake, 3.55 gears, Borla Stingers...yea I knew I needed a V8. I put the stock air box back on and returned the car to stock tune (the factory 3.31 tune was feathered by the Ford dealer to work on 3.55 gears) for trade in. The trade in guy test driving it did a WOT run down a back road behind the dealer; I was watching him and heard it loud and clear
