2013 converti gt purchase

hey all, im going to check out a CPO 2013 grabber blue convertible 5.0 tomorrow. The vehicle is listed at 31k and only has 2500 miles on it. If it looks to be legit I may pull the trigger but im curious to know if this car has any major known issues with it. I keep reading about the MT-82 transmission having problems which I seriously do not want. I had an bmw M roadster previously which had a serious 1-2nd gear grind. Ive been driving manual cars all my life and I can assure you it wasn't driver error. I was going to wait and buy a brand new 2015 but for almost 14k less I can pick this up and have almost just as much fun. Any input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Cpo means Nothing. They just go off the miles. So go over it well.
Bc I know of a few cars that were sold as CPO's and I feel bad for the new owners.

Make sure it didn't have a tune or is tuned also. Just go over every inch of the car.

thanks for the reply, Im mainly concerned about recalls, tsb, known transmission issues. If theres really nothing much to report then I feel a lot better going in there and checking it out. if there are issues then ill let this one slide

Some of the early MT-82 cars had higher than normal failure rates though most of that has been cured now. The shifter is remote and balky and there have been people who have reported the clutch pedal sticking to the floor during high RPM shifts, though I have never experienced it in almost 18,000 miles. An MGW shifter will cure 95% of the shifter problems and a SS clutch line should cure the pedal sticking problem. I drive an MT-82 in D.C. traffic daily, no problems other than occasionally missing 3rd.

CPO warranty extends the warranty to what? 6 years/100,000 miles?

IF you're not going to be modding the car, then you'll have nothing to worry about for probably 4+ years, and 97,500 miles!!!

With that low of miles, it was likely was weekend / garage queen only taken out on nice sunny days, kind of like my "toy car(s)". The owner likely just traded it in for a new 2015 GT.

i have driven my 2012 mustang gt with an MT-82 for almost 3 years now and has 39,000 miles on it now. i have never had any major issues with the transmission but there are a couple things you could do to make it better.

For the clutch sticking to the floor, you will need to remove the spring assist that is located on the clutch. it is a pain in the *** but well worth it. there are videos on youtube that show you how. the stainless steel braided clutch line is nice to have but does not cure the clutch sticking problem.

secondly for the gear notchiness/grinding from 1-2nd gear and sometimes 2nd-3rd gear issues, that can generally be fixed with a 2 post bracket, if you desire shorter throws in the shifter then you can get a bracket and shifter assembly I.E. MGW or Barton.

The last issue i have personally been having is the high rpm lockout. Some people have had success with installing the whiteline transmission mount. I have not done it myself though, so i cannot comment further on that part. What you could check out is the blowfish racing manual shifter support bracket which everybody that i have read on that have installed this part has said they do not experience the lockout anymore when shifting at high rpm's, plus this part also doubles as a driveshaft loop. I have just ordered this myself and finally hope to be free from this issue.

If you are not looking to race at all, which judging by your post it doesn't seem like you are going to, the only thing i would really worry about doing if i were you is to purchase the 2 post bracket and you should be fine.
