Bolt on high flow cats?

Due to emissions and what not I want to get high flow cats in Virginia instead of cat deletes... is there any bolt on high flow cats or do they all need to be welded? And also how likely is it they will get clogged with and without a tune?

See the Note - " off road use only ".
Not sure if these would pass inspection in Va.....May also throw codes. Do a lot of research, before you buy anything..
.
Kooks markets a " green " cat, 49 state legal for emissions.
Not sure if the will bolt up to stock headers.
I run them on both of my cars, with Kooks headers, my 11 just passed N.J. inspection in July 2014........................Good luck.

The cats on the car are already "high flow". Replacing them with another cat in the same position will likely net you very little improvement. Most of the gain from aftermarket h, etc. comes from reduced flow restriction in the piping, not the cats. Honestly, the stock stuff is pretty good so, you need to go hard to significantly improve on it, in an NA application. Do your research, as has been suggested.

Ok man no need to take it so seriously I don't really track the cat so I don't care about squeezing every bit of power from the car I really just wanted to add some sound. Now would an extra few horsepower be nice? Sure but like I said not my main concern regarding the cats

? I wasn't being rude to you, just answering your question.

Want a little more sound? Head out back and delete the resonators from the over the axle pipes.

Yeah no kidding, that's a serious upgrade and, I'd say, worth the price of admission, if one wants some actual power out of a setup. Not worth it if it's sound-only you seek. You might still find issues with exact emissions compliance there though, as the cats are moved and the rear O2s are likely switched off with canned or email tunes suited for this. Depends how frenetic your local authorities are, I guess.

I mean I know some places that would pass me and I don't have to do testing for another year and a half anyways but I'm hesistant because of the price and because of warranty issues. My car only has about 7.1k miles on it so far

Understood. Maybe the cheapest way out for sound only is another set of axlebacks that more closely approximate what you are seeking, sound wise? You can sell the Roush in a heartbeat and recoup some of the cost.

I think most of the high flow aftermarket cats are 200-300 cell while oem ones are 500-600 cell substrates. May pick up a little more flow from what I have seen if you need to keep some form of cat on the car. Long tube headers with high flow cats are generally only down 5 hp or so versus offroad. fyi

Depends on your setup. Some systems are modular and offer the intermediate pipes in catted or off-road versions. Kooks is one example, I don't know about others so you will have to check. If this isn't the case then you need to look at welding in cats or replacing other stuff. I'm guessing the OEM exhaust is long gone.

Right now I have roush axle backs with after cat x pipe... I want some more volume though while still being able to pass emissions that's my dilemma

Let's think outside the box, or pipes in this case: More volume? Supercharger! that'll boost your exhaust volume by a lot and produce mammoth power. Can even be emissions legal if you pick the right setup....

Maybe you're just a muffler delete kinda guy...Roush is already one of the louder axlebacks out there is so, maybe this is where you need to go.

Just swapped out pype bombs for roush and love the tone way more and not looking to spend big money on a super charger and also that would still void warranty. I'll probably end up waiting a little longer and just going with long tubes and hi flow catted x

How can you say u like them better if youve never ran them? My friend Dj has roush ab on his 2012 and they sound DAM NEAR identical. Neither one is louder than the other. The borla atak is just a smidge deeper than the roush but more expensive.

I can say that when I've heard them before at car meets and my friends.... Just because I haven't ran them doesn't mean I don't know what they sound like or have never heard them. And they don't sound near identical the ataks are higher pitched and not as loud unless you have the cat back

Nah. They're not. I wouldn't have bought the borlas for 300$ if they were "higher pitched". If I wanted a high pitched exhaust I'd just buy a v6 lol. So if you've heard all these setups. Why u always making a bunch of exhaust threads asking for advice when u "clearly" kno what u wanted in the beginning.

Lol they are higher pitched but in the end its an opinion. And I made like 3 and you complain on all my threads so I'm not sure why you continue to comment on them. Also I asked for feedback and then later went to a meet to hear it in person so you can relax there tough guy. I've asked about roush ataks and mbrp race series catback I then heard the roush and ataks in person later on but can't find anyone with the mbrp so I went with what I knew and that is that the roush sounds deeper and louder than the ataks in person. And did I say the ataks sound bad and they are so high pitched they sound like a v6? No I didn't so stop putting words in my mouth, I said compared to the roush the ataks are higher pitched (which is my opinion based off of hearing them both) and you are entitled to yours as well, there's no reason to freak out and like I said don't like my threads don't comment on them

Yeah but use the search feature or YouTube before you make an exhaust thread for every single
Question. It's just annoying. U try n give people advice and. Well. I'm probably wasting my time here. Good day sir✌️

Which exhaust sounds best threads at some point become annoying. In this case those threads have been annoying for several years now.
