Looking into a Stang

Hey guys, I just joined the forum looking for some insight. I am 17 and currently drive a 2006 dodge charger RT, but after driving the car for almost a year and a half, the novelty of having a four door is wearing off because I just don't need it and I'm looking for more speed. So my question, would a 2010 GT be a worthy upgrade or am I just dreaming that the mustang is more than it is? My charger is modded with an exhaust, 93 tune, and a CAI, so I am running a bit quicker than the car's decent stock speed. I would go for a 2011 GT, but the parents aren't really going for it. Thanks in advance everyone!

I'm going to PM you my answer. But if your parents are against it... why are you still pursuing it.

I say if you're buying the damn car yourself and covering the insurance buy whatever the hell you want...that's just me. If they have a hand in it financially then it's a different story.

Regardless, I would say that if you are looking into that gen mustang go for the 2011 without question. The 2010's still had the 4.6 3V @ 310 at the crank. The 2011 was the first model year to get the new 5.0, which is a monster plus the 6spd. So much potential, you take those same mods on your current charger and drop them on the 5.0 and you could have a solid 430-450 to the wheels in a much lighter car, mustang @ 3605 vs charger @ ~ 4100.

I would be paying for it, but the likely outcome is me waiting until after college for a 5.0, but we shall see where the wind takes me from here, thanks for the reply and Happy New Year!

Go big or go home get a 2014 or a 2015 interest would be lower than a 2011-2013

Being 17 years of age and car insurance tends to be more costly, forget the 10 GT. Go with an 2011 3.7. Its just as quick as the 10 GT, same body style and will be lower monthly insurance premium.

Unless its an 11 plus V8 (different ballgame) go with the 3.7. I drive Dodge Charger Rt's for my job daily and while very nice, my modded 3.7 is fastser all day long. Faster from a dig and roll.

The 3.7 engine has far more potential than the 4.6 engine in the 2010 Gt. The 3.7 can easily and safely hadle 600 rwhp where the 4.6 is around 450 rwhp factory internals.

The 25mpg combined you get out of the V6 also doesn't hurt. With manual, it's capable of eating probably 90% of the other cars out there for lunch. Insurance costs for it classify it as a normal sedan as well.

You could try a 03-04 mach1. Very good cars, decent power, every easily modified. Personal friend has a cammed only no CAI Mach1, he outruns basic bolt on 5.0s . Plus being an older car insurance might not be as bad. Between a coyote, or a 2010 gt, or a Mach, the Mach is coming home with me. Just my opinion.
