Anyone have any suggestions for a good brand of winter/snow tires?

Just got to Fort Carson and I hate this snow out here. Need winter tires.

Never ran them myself but I've heard great things about Bridgestone Blizzaks. Knew a guy that ran them on his Infinity G35 and that thing just tore thru our Wisconsin winters.

Keep in mind that they do handle quite poorly in the temps above 40 degrees. Also it doesn't hurt to throw 100lbs of weight in the trunk, even with great snow tires.

Blizzaks all the way. I've got them on my winter beater. It was a night and day difference after I put them on. Only time I MIGHT lose traction now is from a stop.

Have the michelin x ice on my wife's ride and love them. Only winter tire with a mileage warranty. So quiet and ride nice. Left them on year round.

I have heard good things about blizzaks too, however make sure you get the right model! I had WS-70 and they sucked pig balls! It felt as if I'm skating/floating on road. Returned em for Michelin xice3 and no major problems since.

For blizzaks, im guessing you should go with LM series for your car to get a good grip. Or if you can find Nokian Hakkapelitas, get them asap. BEST winter tire IMO!

Always thought the performance and 40000 mile treadlife warranty made them worth the money. I have had Blizzak and liked them for snow and ice but wet weather/dry performance was a compromise. Never run the Nokian but, the are always recommended highly. There really isn't a bad choice out of the bunch just depends on what is most important to your driving needs.

I have been thinking of getting the Nokian. Tire shop quoted me 235 ea. installed. I'm not sure if that is a good price or not.

You have to shop around.
And make sure of what the price includes, up front.
Costco would probably be the cheapest place to get Michelin tires and there price includes everything. Even road hazard warranty.
I would guess the Nokian would be the highest price.
Good luck!

Ok I found some blizzaks size 235/55/r18. Well my stock tires are 235/50/zr18. Will these tires fit without any clearance issues?
