Just curious, what is their reasoning behind keeping it for so long?

Well first.. The 3rd gear synchronizers and parts were on backorder... Since I guess fords too dumb to make a lot of them.. So they had to order the parts and put me on priority list, because If not I would of had to wait till end of January to get them.. And when the parts came 3 weeks later.. They sent the wrong ****ing parts.. SERIOUSLY HOW AM I ON THE PRIORITY LIST AND YOU ORDER THE ****ING WRONG PARTS??? So then it took an additional 4 business days to get the parts.... And when they got them they tried to put the gear in and they put to much pressure with their ****ing machine an the gear broke... So they had to order it ****ing again and It came in thursday....and they still are putting the transmission on and said it will be done late Tuesday.. Which is obviously ducking mid Wednesday .....

Hope they get it done soon. Is this a warranty claim? Seems like they make this crap difficult so some peeps will just give up and deal with whatever or go get it fixed on there own. it's a damn shame, cause I don't think it's Ford as much as it's those greedy dealerships lol.

Well hopefully they do it right. There is a reason not many shops mess with the mt82.

Rev auto is the only one I know of that knows 100% what they are doing with them.

I am assuming you are out of warranty having it done at a transmission shop, how much is it costing you to have this done.
In the 90's it was only $200 more to buy a brand new 5spd from Ford for my 88 Turbo Coupe than have the original rebuilt. In my 97 Cobra when I crunched 2nd gear and the syncrho with it...the Ford dealer put in a brand new one..........and complained about my FPP headers and Bassani cat back system, but they did it. The only part of the drivetrain that doesn't get replaced as a unit if something goes wrong is the rearend gears.
The engine and trans are disposable parts, as the amount of training, labor, and parts to repair them would cost more than just taking the old one out and putting a new one in.................

In principle I agree. But they have had my Coyote apart 3 times, replacing parts- crank, bearings, block, 1 piston, 1 rod. The only thing left my short block is 7 rods and 7 Pistons from the factory. And they still wouldn't send a sealed unit. So don't bank on Ford or the stealership doing what makes sense...

I believe it's mostly up to the dealer to make that call, as long as their regional tech rep from Ford agrees..................it's up to the dealer to fight on your side, not the factories............it really just comes down to the dealer. Maybe I've been lucky to go out of my way to make friends with some of the older guys in my dealership (parts manager, service manager, sales manager)......but I live in a small town of 50,000 people...and everyone knows everyone here.
