For my tastes, a hood with a molded scoop looks great, and would be the way I'd go if I were after a scoop on my hood.

Several years ago, I owned a 2005 Ford F150, and I bought a Roush scoop; had it painted, drilled the holes (boy, was that a tough first hole drill...). After car washes and rain storms, I quickly realized that the scoop was a mistake; not that any rain got into the engine compartment (it was a non-functional scoop), but rather it trapped water between the bottom surface of the scoop and the hood. When driving, even after a day of being parked, this trapped water would spray back towards the windshield.

Just a heads up for anyone that likes to wash their Mustang often, and keep it water spot free. A drive will soon ruin that "just washed" feeling.

Here's a couple of hoods that I came across while looking. From just the pictures alone I think they both look good. I thought the price was pretty good aswell, but makes me wonder how much work/prep would be involved.

I actually like the CV-X hood as being 04 Edge Mach 1 "like."But the problem with hoods is I have to paint match and then get my side hood graphics put back on.

The Photo is what my car looks like today (rear window '69 like black aluminum louvers also). The graphic is the look I like made in the ford build your own stang I did in early 2012. I think my hood graphis will help make the shaker stand out.

I love your car color. Why didn't they paint the scoop before the install?

Unless it has faded a noticeable amount the the color code should be sufficient enough and save you a lot of extra money on the install. But thinking about it surely enough they wouldn't do that to him, I'm hoping they drilled the holes and mounted it to make sure they had it good to go before painting the scoop. If they are sanding and redoing your whole hood to put a scoop on then I think it's time to keep your ears and eyes open for a new shop.

Yep. That's why I didn't touch it.

I think that may be the Trufiber hood and not the Cervini's. I could be wrong, maybe c_rizzle will know. They are VERY similar, but looks like the sides of the scoop on the Cervini hood have a more pronounced edge - more so than the smoother ones on the Trufiber. Looks more "molded on" vs "added on" in my opinion. I prefer the less pronounced edge, but they are both terrific looking.

Don't know. I'll have to ask.

He says he's running low 10's (supercharged):

I am with everyone who spoke about the extractors cluttering up the hood when a scoop is added. I think if I was going to do a mod I would pick up a Shelby hood. I like that front of the hood vent. Looks aggressive.

Just enjoying my 420 HP daily driver
