Exhaust

I just bought a 2012 5.0 and I can't decide what I want. Which axel back would sound the best?

I like
1. Roush axel back
2. Mbrp race series cat back
3. Magnaflow competition axel back

I've got Roush axel back on my Roush (duh) and have zero intentions of changing them. Only other exhaust system I'd use is Roush extreme. Thinking about getting a terminator and that b!tch is getting Borla ataks!

The Borla atak sounds awesome but I'm not trying to drop $750 on a exel back right after buying a car. Maybe they will come later but I'm trying to stay under $500

The Roush sound really good and are only 470 bucks. But if you start removing cats and resonators they get too loud and don't sound good at all to me.

The gt500 axle backs are cheap, sound good, and get better with other exhaust mods.

They are louder than factory and quieter than Borla ataks. And they idle good. My idles louder than a strait pipe camaro.

As far as which would sound the best, I'd vote the Roush.

But my opinion of what sounds go my differ compared to others.

I personally would try to take into account that it would get louder if you planned to go catless...

I've got super 44s on my 65 impala and they sound great. But the outlaws it's hit and miss some cars sound good and others not (even cars of the model year). But go on YouTube and listen to some of them and make a decision.

In my area more than half of mustangs have Roush exhaust. And some other cars have Roush exhaust here. I put some Roush axel backs on a 6.0L GTO and I was surprised how good it sounded.

If you want loud and don't plan on other exhaust mods I'd say yes.

If you are planning on putting longtubes or go cat less just buy the borlas and spend the extra money cause the roush sound like ****. I made that mistake lol but if you are staying stock then roush sound better than borlas imo

I'd look into Solo Performance axle backs, I've had, GT500, Pype Bomb, Roush and Mac's. The Solo's are the best sounding but most aggressive, they aren't raspy like the Roush and have zero drone.

For the money Roush delivers a product that is unmatched. At the track yesterday around a bunch of seasoned car guys there was no shortage of compliments on how the car sounds. As said if you plan on more exhaust or extensive engine mods that require exhaust mods look at something else.

Or straight pipe the resonators and mufflers for cheaper than any axle backs. Paid 200 for stainless steel to be put in and it was done quick. It will be loud and sound great, my car can be heard from over a mile and a half away easily(only bad thing is cops hearing you messing around). Can have normal level conversation at 75mph with really no drone(my opinion I know others cant stand even a bit of noise but come on its a damn mustang). Start up is crazy loud but mellows out in a minute. I love it, my dad loves it, friends, mechanic. Everyone, but keep in mind all that love it either have a drag car, loud street car, or like that kind of thing in general. From here on out when I upgrade my exhaust I will have straight pipes most likely.

Deleting the resonators and especially the mufflers just makes the car loud with zero tone. Basically it will sound like a$$.

It definitely has a muscle tone to it.

spend the coin and get the Borla ATAK. I cant even get gas with out people saying how my car sounds so good. My buddie asked what exhaust i had and the next week his 2013 GT500 had the ATAK system on it. I go to the street races and people just continue to tell me no other car sounds like mine.

It's not that it's loud because it certainly is, it's that it sounds like ****. I have long tubes with my roush and it was loud alright but it sounded like ****. So I bought s types and it sounds amazing now.

I'm going MBRP race over the street series it sounds the best out of everything I've ever heard except the borla s type but I'm not paying that kinda coin for mufflers. I'll probably regret it if I ever do longtubes cause it will probably be to obnoxious but until then it will sound amazing
