Barton shifter bracket

I know that there has been a lot of talk about shifter and tranny issues from the '11-'14's and I don't want to repeat anything but my car does not like going from 1st to 2nd sometimes, mostly when its cold outside. I am thinking about getting the single post barton shifter bracket and the whiteline mount bushing insert from American muscle. Will that help me out without having to change the whole shifter? I like the quietness of it, it just feels mushy sometimes and I want it to be more firm and to have better shifts. Any feedback would be awesome. Thanks!

People that have done this seem to like it and it firms things up a bit. The 1st to 2nd cold problem has nothing to do with shifter. People will skip 2nd or double clutch until it warms. I have found starting in 1st with an immediate slow pause then into 2nd keeps issues at a minimum.

okay, thanks for the feedback. I normally try to let the car warm up before I leave but ill try what you said and see how it does. I do still want to firm up the shifter but I don't know if im going to get the two post or single post bracket, there isn't that much difference in price. Whats the difference between the two?

The only way to warm the trans oil is driving. I'm not sure which bracket would be better. Get a front mount bushing from MGW that will help loads along with the rear bracket

Hey 2011,

I know all too well of the flaws in the MT-82, I've had two after all!

I run the Barton Industries Short Shifter and Two-Post Bracket on my current 2014 GT and love it! I would not have it any other way.

On my previous 5.0, I just ran the Barton Industries Shifter Bracket on the stock shifter and although I would recommend the short throw also, compared to stock the difference was day and night and if you are not looking to go all out, the bracket will be perfect.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!

-Will

I'll suggest a fluid change but it is a fussy piece.

I'm planning on changing the fluid soon when I change the oil so I can just do it all at once. I am going to get the shifter bracket and then when I get the funds Im going to get the barton shifter. I have watched the shifting with the barton on youtube and it seems like it will be a great mod for the car. Thanks everybody for the feedback!

I was recommended the blowfish shifter bracket a few weeks ago through this forum and I strongly recommend it. Solid feel to the shifter but it vibrates a bit at stable 3-4k rpm. Does not feel like the mt82 at all!!
