Tough Decisions

I recently picked up a new left over 2014 GT Track Pack M6. I have been enjoying the car but am ready to make it my own. I have been reading through the forums this past month, picking up tips and trying to see what are the best aftermarket parts for reliability and performance. What have I discovered this far? There is too much to choose from. The aftermarket support for my previous cars was nowhere near what it is for the Mustang. One or two aftermarket choices is what I am use to, not 20 plus companies. So I am looking for a little guidance and I have a few questions.

First, I believe I am going to go with AED to tune the car. Seems to have a good reputation and does good work.

I'm searching for a muscular exhaust sound, so I believe I am going to go with the Lethal Performance H-Pipe and between the Magnaflow Competition catback or the Flowmaster Outlaws. I'm back and forth with doing the headers or not. My goal is a car that has great drivability making 400+ whp.

A few questions:

Will there be an issue with an aluminized h-pipe connecting to a stainless steel catback? Do the two have different expansion rates at different levels of heat potentially causing an exhaust leak? Should I just spring the extra $100 and get the stainless steel h-pipe?

Will these two catback choices even mate up to the Lethal Performance h-pipe?

Any suggestions for catback exhausts, besides the two listed that will give me more of a deeper tone than the raspy tone? I looked at Borla, but they are considerably more expensive.

I'm also going to do some suspension tweaks and along with fixing the slop on the shifter.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

And for you muscle car fans and for giggles, here is a video of my GTO I owned a few years back that I put some time and effort into.

Two mufflers that come to mind are Roush axelbacks and another flow master option is super 10s. But they'll be loud. Shifters, just go with a hurst. The suspension well they vary from person to person, on what looks good.
Please tell me you didn't sell the goat for the mustang...

Oh no, there have been many cars between the goat and the mustang. The new mustang makes number 32 in the past 10 years. The gto was probably number 25 or so. Actually, I sold the goat for a Lotus Elise.

Get a stainless h pipe, aluminized just means you'll be under there replacing it in a couple of years or less.

Your cars vary almost as bad as mine do. Literally 98% of people on the site only own fords. It's nice to meet another true car enthusiast on the site. Forgot to mention if you put headers on a coyote it makes it incredibly raspy...

Why sell a modded v8 for a Toyota four banger?

1) Is lehtal H pipe off road? If so, I'd suggest you get a pair of GT500 or magnaflow mufflers for that matter. Roush and flowmaster are going to get obnoxiously loud with your cats off! Even a pair of kooks axleback would be a nice addition, look up other forums you maybe able to find em cheap.

2) Kooks mid length header would be a perfect choice if your goal is to have a 400+ whp street car. Shaun from AED knows his shiet, his tunes are wicked!

3) if cash is not a problem, go with MGWs new race spec shifter if you're going to get rid of your stocker. It be your money well spent. If not, then Barton 2 post bracket.

4) are you going to lower your car? Make sure you get LCAs with brackets, adjustable panhard bar, and camber bolts. Drive it for a week, then take it to a pro shop for alignment.

ROUSH axle backs really is all you need. Seriously, I never was a fan of loud exhausts but even just being an axle back they sound incredible. Very much similar to a nascar vehicle.
If it's possible, try to drive one with manual to get an idea. And all for less than $500.

Go with the Roush they sound amazing. I've got them on my car and a lot of people tell me it sounds like one mean bastard. Catted with an h pipe has a real deep mean muscle car sound. Only other exhaust I'd consider changing my car to is Roush extreme.

^^^ LOL, since than I have greased he heck out of those doors. No more squeaking or creaking.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Even in this post, I have heard several different opinions. I have gone on youtube to listen to video of different exhaust combos, but it's is hard to tell a dramatic difference over the internet. Just yesterday, I heard two different Mustangs driving down the street that sounded amazing. I just wanted to run up and ask what exhaust set-up they had.

I think I am going to give Shaun a call at AED, and see what he suggest. I am sure he has heard it all and can give an opinion if I explain my goals with the car and the sound I'm looking for.

^^^ I appreciate the feedback. I believe that is the same combo I'm looking at now. It seems the gt500ab help with drone while still leaving a muscular tone. Did you remove your resonators?

^ slowly and gradually you will start to wish they were louder. You need to remove your resonators to fully appreciate their note. However, if you want a good loud n throaty exhaust, get off road h pipe and weld in a pair of race bullets. No rasp, and pure exhaust porn.

Does anyone have experience with the Dynomax race bullets catback system? It appears to be light weight and many seem pleased with the sound.

I have watched countless exhaust systems on YouTube and the only thing I have learned is that the coyote motor doesn't sound as good as the previous gen motor. Is that statement blasphemy?

I have had pype bombs ab which were pretty cool sounding then added an off road x was a little too loud for my taste but mainly didn't like the smell a whole lot to be honest lol and now I have roush with an aftercat x pipe which sound pretty good but I wish they were louder now lol I've heard gt500s in real life really deep tone but I personally think they are not nearly loud enough but that's just me... I also like the s types but I am going to try an add some volume to my exhaust soon just not sure what yet

I have the Borla stinger axle back exhaust and it sounds great...a little pricey but well worth it.
