Any one get a clunk with the AUTO trans?

It seems like ive been noticing more and more clunks when the trans down shifts in to 1st. It never did it with the stock tune. My friend also has an Auto and said his does it once in a while but mine seems to be doing it more and more. A few times this week it clunked so hard I though I hit something. Is this an Auto thing or a tune thing? My tune is a Mike roush and my friend has Bama.

It could be from the drive shaft. I have heard that it slides forwards and backwards causing a clunk. Ronnie on here has experienced it I believe

you might be right about that. Is there a fix? maybe a 1 piece shaft?

I think it's the driveshaft. I have a manual and it clunks when not being soft with the clutch. I think it happens because there is slack in the driveshaft causing a clunking sound when engaging the transmission. It could be the same type of deal for the auto. Not sure tho.

I had the clunk every now and then. Since tuning my car, I've stopped noticing it. I think the tune actually helped.

Mine does it dude. It will clunk several times coming to a stop. When it downshifts to second and to first. And when you finally
Stop it will clunk one last time usually. It's very annoying. I have it lowered on a pro kit with BMR lowers and relocation bracket and bmr with mounting bracket. I wish I knew what was causing it so I could
Fix it.

Well we will see. That's a ton of money for it to MAYBE fix it lol. I wanna hear what grabber says back about what Ronnie told
Him. It's seriously so annoying haha. Mine started doing it after I lowered it and got all new control arms and stuff. I think because it
No longer has the rubber bushings for cushioning and instead it has the polys.

I believe its just the nature of the factory 2-piece. I don't remember if mine did it before I got an aftermarket UCA but after getting one I get a clunk every time I shift gears haha (probably bc I have the factory mount as well tho....). Ole Ford...

I have heard a clunk every now and then, but not in a long time. I noticed my car is shifting better from 5 to 6, too. I hope it keeps doing that. The lag between 5 and 6 was getting annoying.

Ronnie said he changed his drive shift to a 1 piece and it fixed his problems. It is a pricey upgrade. Mmmmm

I do not but that doesn't mean it's not there. I'm pretty sure what you're experiencing is the two piece driveshaft clunk but cannot say I'm 100% on it.

Is it only a 1st gear issue? Because I get that on my tune some but before I had the 1st gear then started to notice the car when up shifting would sometimes add a weird shift in after i reached cruising it would drop for a second. A buddy who worked at the dealer asked about the issue and they had no clue. When I was leaving my dealer for another issue i went to pull out and got a whole xmas tree of lights and the car shifted into 5th from 1st and almost got me tboned. Limped the car back and it was some type of harness issue. Not sure if same issue but watch for the other weird shifts and if you have it take the car in before it tries to kill you

It's a tune thing. On my aggressive tunes, the line pressure is jacked up and et voila, clunks. The milder tunes, nope, even with the Steeda and UMI poly links I have back there.
