When I was in the market for a shifter I researched both and went with the Barton. Shorter throw and no fear of going into reverse from first gear were 2 factors I considered

of just those choices, the Barton but you really should look into an MGW, either the regular version or even better, the race spec

When I was shopping around, I used the search function on this forum and found about 50 pre-existing threads on here and was able to make my decision without starting another exhausting repetitive thread.

Hey Ahmad,

I am a huge fan of the Barton Industries Short Shifter and Two-Post Bracket myself and would highly recommend it.

I run it on my 2014 Track Pack GT and absolutely love it. You will not be disappointed.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!

I have the ford racing and it's essentially identical to the Barton minus the shift ball and retainer. It's amazing. Look at the hurst and it looks clunky. Just my opinion, but I researched and went with the Barton essentially. I just one upped it and went ford racing as I really liked the complete package.

yup, I tried the Hurst a few years ago, simply because I liked the "look" of the flat chrome stick, worst shifting experience I've ever been put through, simply put, it was garbage

I've been on their website and I only see one shifter? Did they replace the regular with race spec? I'm assuming the race spec is the 385$ shifter they show on the site, but don't call it that

no, that is their regular version shifter for $385, the race spec is $487 (worth every penny) but you need to call in, it's not on their website

That's not terrible. Ford racing one was 4 something from am. Also worth every penny. But I too was sticker shocked at first. But the biggest mistake would have been buying something cheaper and not liking it and having to replace it eventually

you really need to see the level of machining and engineering that goes into the MGW to truly respect it

yes it is, well there are now two versions of the Race Spec, the newest one bolts directly to the transmission and is braced to the transmission, and the previous Race Spec, the one I have is not braced to the transmission

Relax. He's likely trying to get to the 50 post count minimum to be able to post in the classifieds.

Probably. It's still exhausting to always exhaust every option and opinion repeatedly while talking about exhaust and exhaust threads.

Well, I tried to delete this before someone quoted it. Got my forums mixed up. 20 is the minimum on this one. My bad. I understand where people are coming from though regarding the same threads all the time, but in the end we're all here trying to help those that don't want to help themselves and some aren't as forum savy.

Definitely MGW race spec. Barton 2 post is second if you want to stick with Barton or hurst.

I just installed the hurst and everyone keeps talking about the fear of going into reverse. Just tighten the spring up a little and you're golden.

If you are paying ANY attention to your shifting, there's 0 chance of shifting into first.

I had the hurst. once you get used to it you don't have a problem going into first and reverse, they feel different. But still the shifting is subpar compared to others. Especially the 1-2 shift.

I was wondering the same thing. I did a search and saw many many posts saying the Barton (Ford Racing too) or MGW is the best choice. They say the Barton has the shortest throw and is very well built and strong, wont miss shifts or lock out anymore, but produces lots of tranny noise and shifter vibration.

The MGW is quieter and the quality is right up there with NASA engineering. I saw that myself when looking on the MGW website and watched the video, geez high tech. Also, it replaces not only the shifter and mounts but also the box too.

Barton short throw w/2 post bracket...$377.99 or abt $355.0 with coupons
MGW Race spec shifter....$487.00

I am still debating which one I will get, I like the MGW high tech and superior quality but I also like the Barton shorter throws.
