iPad mini install

Here is the modified iPad mini holder running a custom Dash Command that I did. The tablet holder is just held onto the radio bezel by magnets that are mounted inside the console hidden from view. You can remove the ipad or the whole unit as fast as you can remove your keys.
You can run Dash Command with the WiFi OBD2 dongle and run your music via your Ford Sync. Pretty cool operating unit that will not do anything to your OEM parts. I covered this holder with Carbon Fiber, they come with a finish that matches the OEM finish on the console and bezel.

Where did you get the holder from, or did you custom make it?

I ordered it from Musicar Northwest. It comes finished in the same finish as the bezel and console, but I customized this one with carbon fiber and finished the trim ring in brushed SS finish like the Boss trim in the car.

Here is a link to their site.

The holder is held to the dash/bezel with super strong magnets that you stick on the back side of the radio bezel. Everything can be removed in one second and you can never tell it was there

Send them an email. They are a custom shop. If you have a 10.1 Samsung, I guarantee those guys can make it work. Tom is who I dealt with there.

That's bad to the bone. I have been doing this with my iPhone and sticking it on top of my steering column...it would be sweet if us non premium guys could stick an old iPhone 5 in the 4.2" center opening of the gauge cluster... Now you've got me thinking.

I use this for my iPhone. It works great. And it's only $15 (at Walmart when I bought it, anyways). It's almost one of my favorite "mods" to my car lol.

Also, it supposedly holds an iPad mini but I have not tested that yet.

Wow, they are going UP in price. I know they didnt want to be making any more of these due to the time it takes away from their core work, but dang...... I saved $ by getting one with no finish and the trim bezel was not chromed either. I laid twill carbon fiber and vinyl ester. Cleared too for super gloss coat. Only finish I had them do on this one was the felt coating on the interior. They are expensive, but there is nothing else out there like them. Too bad someone couldnt make these overseas and market them for a good price.

Greed at it's best. I think I'll invest in an expensive 3D printer next year just for companies like this.

Even with a 3D printer, (which I get a lot of parts made for my quadcopters with ) you would have a TON of finish work to do to make it look professional. I would think a top end injection two piece mold would be the professional route to mass produce them. Surprised they dont go that route and have them mass produced. I am sure there will be a market for these for a long time if the price point was in reason.

It is expensive, but with the holder, ipad mini, You can have you music, GPS & car diagnostics all on this unit and not do a single thing to your OEM interior. People put down more than that to install the Raxiom unit that the screen is in an awkward position and the whole look doesnt look factory.

That's pretty sweet. Does the iPad charge when it's sitting there? I couldn't pull up any pics from the link in my phone.

Love the iPad install. I did a similar project with a 7" tablet and made my own faceplate.

For the tablet I used 3m double sided tape, and the face plate has four .030 thin stripes of steel that wraps around the OEM faceplate, then it just clips back in. I'll see if I still have a PIC.
