Eric's 2014 Mustang GT build thread

Hey peeps. Let me introduce myself, my name's Eric, and I'm from the great state of MA which is currently getting battered by snow and wind lol. My build thread is really scattered throughout the site, and I felt it needed to be organized and compiled into one thread so I myself can keep up with the progress, and so can all of you if you so kindly choose to do so

Ok, so here's the details. I bought this bad girl in February of last year. It's a base 2014 Oxford white GT with added recaro's and 3.73's. Those were 2 of my requirements. I would've liked brembo's as well, but beggars can't be choosers as they say. So let's get right into it with my modification list and some pictures.

-MRT KR axle back
-SR springs, LCA's, panhard rod, and strut brace
-koni str.t (Orange struts/shocks combo)
-GT500 strut mounts
-BMR UCA w/mount
-BMR relocation brackets
-Billet Industries upper and lower black billet grilles
-Roush front splitter and side rockers (ordering rear spats tomorrow to complete the kit)
-RTR Decklid painted Oxford white to match (favorite mod to date, and I'm the creator and founder of the marvelous RTR thread that will never die )
-Boss 302 rear diffuser
-STR 607's in 19x8.5/19x10 in black and white (recently purchased, not quite sure if I'll keep as is or powder coat, open to suggestions)

So the first year of ownership is complete, and I made sure to tackle mostly aesthetics and suspension to put the power down as I've had some issues with the crap pirellis at the track lol. This year I will be focused on some go mods. Finishing the exhaust, boss intake mani, and a tune are definitely on the agenda for the season. Thanks for taking a look people, here are some pics that hopefully spark your interest. Have a wonderful evening!

Taking delivery

I love Oxford white. I wanted a gt500 in Oxford white. Those rims look sick too. Keep the current finish and then change it later on if you don't like it. I think it'll look great! What offset and tires did you go with?

Suggestion....A gt500 spoiler will transform your car, and it's relatively cheap.

Oh it looked like crap when it arrived at my door. I was utterly disgusted with its condition and the poor craftsmanship put into it. However, RTR ate the repair bill at my local body shop and you're witnesses to the final product. I absolutely love the thing, and I'd wait the 4 months all over again if I had to lol.

Mikey, I love OW as well. Grabber blue was actually my first choice but one, I couldn't find any new ones because I believe hey discontinued the color after 2013, and two, I saw the white and fell in love. The front is an 19x8.5 +30 offset and the rears are 19x10 +35 offset. I haven't determined the size of the tires I'll go with as of yet, but I'm pretty set on Toyo R888's. That's subject to change. And yes, I agree, the car needs a more stand out wing. The GT500 is a little played out in my opinion, but it is still VERY nice. We'll see what pops into my head for that in the spring lol.

It's the most natural looking one. And it goes well with the rtr panel. I like the rtr spoiler too, but I'm not sure how it'll look with all the white, plus you'll be waiting 6 months for that too, with the chance of a ****ty powder coat job as well.

You're absolutely right. I don't find he RTR wing too attractive to be honest. If I do get a wing, it'll probably be the GT500 or 3Dcarbon's version. And yes, that was RTR's first mistake. Using powder coat. I was fed a line that they couldn't use regular paint, it wouldn't adhere, blah blah blah. My body guy just laughed. He assured me it'll hold up, and if by chance it didn't, he'd repaint it free of charge.

Looking good! I agree I would keep the wheels as they are, then change them later if you decide to. Keep us posted!

Thanks bro, I most likely will. At least for a little bit anyhow. I'll be posting all my updates here. As of right now, the only action she's seen, is being warmed up once a week and moved about 6 feet so I can shovel/snow blow lol

Did you get the recaros from the factory when you bought it? I'd love to get some for my car but to buy them after the fact it'll cost me an arm and a leg. Should have just done it from the factory. Too bad I didn't know that was an option. I did get the 3:73s though.

Thanks man. I like to try to stand out a bit, and that's hard to do in the mustang community so I hope I'm changing things up a bit.

I wanted oxford white and grabber blue as well. But I couldn't find any oxford white new and the like you said I don't think there are any 2014s in grabber blue.

Yep, it was between OW, GB, and that light gray color, which is also very nice. Hell I even like deep impact blue. I think the only colors I'd be opposed to are black and red.

Geez. Then you won't like mine. Red candy, and I'm putting black accents/aftermarket parts.

Same here believe it or not man. There was so many things I would've like to have done but have other pressing issues. It's better this way though, I'm enjoying modifying the heck out of this car lol.

Yeah I have a black GT and I must say this will be the last black car I purchase. So many fine scratches that are easy to see just from being in the elements.

That's what it is man. Don't get me wrong, black looks great washed/waxed...but as soon as you start driving it....lol. My last 3 vehicles have been white, I think I might have a thing for em lol.

I have been following your build threads here and there and I really like your car. I too wanted the Oxford white, dealer had to drive 2 states away to get it for me so I couldn't be super picky but landed the brembo package. I really wasn't looking for much more. Your car looks great. I am a fan of the RTR deck lid and tossed around getting one (as if it were easy) but figured I will wait until I can stomach cutting on my car. I wasn't sure how I felt about your deck lid panel painted white, but it's growing on me. You def stand out man.

Thanks a lot bro, I really appreciate the kind words from all of you. That's awesome that you got the brembo's. I could've either gotten the Recaro's and 3.73's or the brembo's and 3.73's. I chose the Recaro's because they were a much cheaper option than the brembo's from the factory, and FRPP makes an aftermarket kit that was way less, so it was an easy decision. Plus I freaking love the Recaro's, they just hug ya lol. The cutting of the trunk lid wasn't bad at all. We used snips to get it started, then smoothed it all out with a grinder. Just gotta jump in head first lol. And funny thing, I was intending on leaving it black, and my gf says, "I think you should paint it body color." So again, I took a leap of faith, and I'm so glad I did because I think it looks great. A few of my friends advised me against doing it, saying it looked better black. They quickly changed their minds upon seeing it in person. That combined with the boss 302 diffuser, changed the entire look up. Again, thanks for the kind words bro, as I've been following your Stang as well. I look forward to adding more this year.
