What is the deal with M-5220-MB

So does anyone have any details on the reason behind the disappearance of the Boss Side (Quad) Exhaust kit M-5220-MB for the 2011-2014 GT?

Why are the 2005-2010 GT & the GT500 versions still available? Was there a problem with it and the 302 engine? Seems weird that only the one kit was discontinued and not all of them.

I heard rumors that a replacement is supposed to be coming soon. Has anyone heard any details? I would like to add this to my car. But right now the only way I have found is to get it is to either find someone selling it used or buy it part by part from a Ford Racing parts house (kinda like building your own kit). And that will cost you nearly $950 + shipping, if you are lucky.

Love to hear it if you know anything...

I'm interested too. I feel like everyone just stopped selling it overnight.

Everybody keeps saying it's gone but it's on AM right here:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/boss-q...1114gt500.html they just moved it to gt500 under h pipes I believe because of the pipe size. I want it pretty bad too, but not $1,000 bad, especially when you could just customize your own set up just like it for cheaper. I'm considering trying that too.

Edit:
Sorry didn't realize you specified it was still available for the gt500. It is 2.75" piping so it should fit the GT too with some slight modding. I still think it would be cool to manufacture my own though.

With the removable restricter plates that come with it, I suspect FR did not want to deal with the states regarding the noise. They still have to get approval for other things in the future. They do sound awesome with GT500 axle backs and the loping idle feature of the track key.

I talked to my Ford parts manager friend and he talked to someone at FRPP that told him parts are going to start drying up because they are no longer making them. Whatever supply is in their warehouses in the East and West will be it, no more made because the Boss302 was a limited production run car. So, when the parts are gone...........they are gone and won't be made for or by FRPP. That's not to say another company won't be making them, but he said it would highly unlikely.
Just food for thought.

If you've got the money and storage space now is the time to buy.

Does anyone have the Ford prefix for the FRPP numbers M5220, not just the manufacturing number. I wonder if it is DR3Z-M5220-MB, I'd like to run a locater with my local Ford parts manager to see if any are still left and if so where.

American Muscle gets more than Levittown Ford, for the GT500 Side Exhaust:
Ford Racing Mustang GT500 Side Exhaust (Part No: M-5220-MSVT)

I just got off the phone with my friendly Ford Parts Manger and although he didn't check quantities at the various locations but did say all of the parts mentioned above are available piece by piece or he said he may still be able to get the complete kit from FRPP if he begged. The price he gave me as my price was $925.00, list is $1293.00 which was for all of the part numbers listed above, so I'd say the price of $848 would be a great price, although you would probably pay $50/60 for freight unless you could pick it up at the dealer.
Get them before there gone.

This one says "cutting required to stock pipe to fit" The other one was a straight bolt on system wasn't it?

The numbers tell the story, the original is a M-5220-MB which is just for the Boss302, the M-5220-MSVT is for the Shelby.

M=Mustang, B=Boss
M=Mustang, SVT= Shelby

Yes the original was a 10 minute swap, bolted on like factory. Unfortunately the one sold now, needs modifications, I posted the link to levittown, because they have some very competitive prices. I purchased my GT500 axlebacks from them, even with shipping, they were cheaper than anyone else, including American Muscle.

Did you purchase the twin tip or single tip. I tried to look at your pictures but you have no pictures of the back of your car.
What was the price for the mufflers?

I bought the 4 inch single tips, direct replacements for the 2011 Shelby GT500, according to the label on the box. Back then they were about 380 shipped, I see they went up now.

I almost wish I had seen pictures of the single tip before I bought mine...............they look as nice along with the Shelby/Boss rear valance.........Sia la vie

I painted my tips in satin black, after seeing the Black Ops F250, with the 6.2, I fell in love with the truck, but no way Im gonna spend 70 G's, on a pick up. I did like the look of the blacked out exhaust, and I decided to go that route on my car.

I say it's going to go high. I should have picked up the used set I saw for sale on one of the forums for $450 shipped a few months ago.
