wow iv been running the same air filter for about 6k miles, iv taken it out and blown it clean with an air compressor but i just changed my oil and decided to just replace it. the difference is amazing its like the car has been running with one nostril plugged and suddenly it can breath through both lol.

6k miles eh? What were you thinking man! Change that bad boy every gas fill up. Yours was probably clogged with smoke contaminants?
Just kidding.... But you are high right?

Having a dirty air filter vs. a clean/new one can be a noticeable difference.

On a previous car, that I thought was kind of weak from a start (easy to kill it starting out in first) was really just a dirty air filter (about 25k miles on same filter and looked like it have NEVER been touched, not even blown out).

Once I changed the air filter, it didn't have that easy to kill in first problem any more. At low RPMs where it didn't have a lot of vacuum power it was most noticeable.

I think the problem is that he changed the air filter at 6k miles, air filters aren't changed every oil change, that would be crazy. Hopefully he typed in the wrong mileage.

clean air filter...

Same thing happened to my car. About a month after I bought it I did a full service oil change. Checked the air filter and found I have a little furry one make a nest in my breather...

They're good for way more than 6k miles of normal driving climates! If it was dirty enough to rob any power whatsoever, you would have a check engine light.
Placebo effect.... Confirmed.
Think how much placebo power you would feel if you put in a new filter, added a bottle of octane boost, put on fresh wax and ran nitrogen in your tires!
There's actually something to this. Havnt you ever thought your car drove better after you detailed it?

Only 6000 miles. Must be drifting on nothing but dirt roads!
