What's your wheel weight?

I finally got my drag setup mounted tonight and weighed the wheels/tires. Granted, the scale I was using was a standard household scale, but the weight differences should be fairly accurate either way.

Factory Brembo wheel w/ Pirelli P-zero - 54.4 lbs.

Race star 17x4.5 with Mickey Thompson Sportsman SR 28x6 - 41.4 lbs.

Race star 15x8 with Mickey Thompson ET Street 275/60/15 - 47.4 lbs.

26 lbs off the front, 14 lbs off the rear. 40 lbs dropped total.

Weld RT-S wheels
Fronts 17x4.5 with Hoosier radials 38 lbs. each.
Rears 15x10 with M/T 295/55-15 ET Street radials 50 lbs. each.

I have since sold my front setup and ordered some 17x7 Welds.

Geez do you guys even lift ?

Good thread, I was researching this last week. I need to weigh my factory ones to make sure I don't get heavier wheels and tires when the time comes. Weather won't seem to cooperate

Does anyone know the weight of the 2013 GT Premium 19" wheel that is shown in my picture? I cant find it anywhere and I'm not really able to weight it currently. I'm also looking at new wheels and don't want to make the mistake of adding a bunch of weight.

If it's anything close to the Brembo wheel, which is also a 19 inch, would come close to 30 # each. The Brembo wheel is 30 # each

That's just the wheel though. We're giving wheel/tire weights here.

my rear drags are mounted on 16" '00 Mustang wheels and are Hoosier 10" bias slicks. I'd say the auw weight of wheel and tire is about 30 pounds. Thus, pretty close to half the weight of the BBP wheel and tire combo I roll on the street.

Go weigh them and report back. I don't want any "feels like" weights in this thread.

Don't be a dick...You even said in your OP you don't totally trust the bathroom scale weights for any kind of accuracy. FWIW, bathroom scale actually says 22 pounds....which I'm not totally sure I buy, given they are cast stock 16" wheels. Slicks do weigh jack **** compared to radials though.

At least I made the effort. Go troll up Mustangz threads, he's cool with throwing out generalities with no scientific data.

Even if the actual weight was off by a pound or two, it's not going to change the difference between the two. That weight difference IS accurate. I used the same scale, and I even set each wheel/tire on the scale 3 separate times to ensure I was getting the same number each time.

"Scientific data" is a bit if a stretch when you're asking everyone to use their own uncalibrated devices to measure something but hey, you got my "data" now, fwiw.

I called out Mustangz when he said he bought TWENTY inch rims and tires and claimed they were lighter than the factory wheels and tires with NO data to back it up. It hurt his feelers as usual, and I was told by a mod to basically give him a sucker and pat him on the head. When I questioned The mod about the accuracy of information thrown around on this forum they couldn't spit out a direct answer, so I'm left to assume that I need to lower my standards here on M.E. So I stuck with using a household scale. I'm confident it's more accurate than what I THINK my stuff weighs, and it lowers the standards commensurate to M.E.'s expectations, where "good enough" seems to work around here.

FYI, I said 19 inch rims. The RTR website says they are 28 pounds each, that's lighter than stock. I can't find it now since RTR started offering other sized wheels.

These are 19x9.5 all around. Charcoal color.

That good enough for you Compstall.

bwahaha, hilarious...seriously, this made me laugh: "give him a sucker and pat him on the head." You may well be correct about the standard of informational quality around here sometimes...since there really is no standard except, as you say, one that is self-imposed.

I have been doing this for 30 years, it is possible my Eyeball, Mark 1 is dialed in for the distance reasonably well. I'll say this much, I'm sure as **** not going to come on here and claim 20s shed weight, even over the gargantually heavy BBP/TP wheels, which are like heaving the wheels on my HD package G10 van when I take them off.

Just put em in a scale with tires Mustangz, and compare to the stockers. The overall weight even isn't really a factor as long as the wheel/tire combo you replaced them with is lighter, weighed on the same scale.

Oh yeah, let me take the wheels off my DD to weigh them for someone on the Internet who doesn't believe me, umm... not really high on my priority list. I know these are lighter than the stock wheels(stock wheels weigh at least 30 pounds), and I like the design. That's why I bought them, I don't need to justify anything to anyone.

One should come on to a thread about "Whats your wheel weight" with there wheel weight. Not what they THINK there weight is or what the place they bought them from SAYS they weigh. A bathroom scale is very accurate depending on the scale and to me is enough info to confidently post wheel weight. Now if we were weighing drugs for sale then that might be a different ball game. Jack your car up, pull 5 lug nuts off 1 wheel, put the wheel on your scale and waaa laaaa easy as that. No one said take your DD and take the wheels off for 2 weeks then weigh them. 5 mins is all it takes.

Stock Premium 19's (top picture)
Hyper silver Premium 19x8.5 = 30 lbs
P Zero Nero All Season 245/45 = 31 lbs
Wheel & Tire = 61 lbs each

TSW 19's + MT Street comps (bottom picture)
tire 255/40-19 @ 29 lbs + TSW 19x8.5 @ 21.9 = approx 51 lbs fronts
tire 285/35-19 @ 30 lbs + TSW 19x9.5 @ 22.8 = approx 53 lbs rears
