engine light

So I was driving on the interstate and I didn't notice I was in 5th gear instead of 6th until the engine light flashed at me so I immediately pulled over and turned the car off, I waited a few mins turned it back on and it was like the light never flashed in the first place the car sounds good still runs the same, I haveno gotten on it since then I'm kinda nervous, should I be concerned? Or was it just the car warning me?

The car should cruise happily in 5th as long as you want it to with no light. I would say there is an issue some were but a minor one that has nothing to do with what gear you were in...it'll be hard to track down until the light comes on and stays on though.

Do you have a tuner? You could pull the code up?

5th is perfectly fine to be in on the highway, 6th is just overdrive. The flashing is for a misfire. If the light isn't on it probably didn't hold the code. Mine has been known to do it when holding around 3k in 5th gear as well, rarely, but it has happened.

So do I need to get something fixed or do I just leave it alone?

And I read that a misfire damages your catalytic converter which I don't have anymore so idk

When it first happened to me the light stayed on next time I started the car so I took it to the dealer and they applied a TSB fix. Next time it happened the light didn't stay on, I still took it in and they did nothing because there was no code. Unfortunately I think you'll have the same experience if the light doesn't stay on. It's fine as long as it doesn't keep happening. Just make note of it if it happens again.

As long as it isn't happening frequently it isn't much of a big deal. While it shouldn't happen at all, it's hard to fix something the dealer refuses to acknowledge without an engine code.

+1 on relax unless it does it again and 5th/6th should not matter unless there is more to the story. I assume no tune/mods.
