Angry 2014 GT Vs. 2015 GT Mods

I've been torn from getting the 2015 mustang GT because there are not as many mods as I thought there would be by now. Which then leads me to want to get the 2014 GT because there are way more mods for it at the moment. But I am afraid if I decide to get the 2014 GT a few months from now that the 2015 will start to get more and more mods. What would you guys do? Would you get the 2014 gt, and have all the many mods available to it at its disposal. Or, get the 2015 and wait for the mods to start rolling out. The type of mods I am talking about are exterior/appearance mods and a few performance mods such as the MSD 2-step. This may seem like a run-on thread but I didn't know how else to put it and I really need some advice!!

One thing I've always learned is don't settle. If you want the 15 then get it and just add mods as you go. Don't settle for the 14 because everytime you see the 15 in a year or so you'll be like dam I should have got that one.

My opinion.

Of course more mods will come for the 15 I would just buy what you like! I personally like the 14 but you have to decide what you like!

Yeah I understand that more mods will come, I just don't want to wait months or longer for the perfect mods for me. Or if some really good ones even come.

The mods will come out slowly most people start modding after 3/36 warranty runs out.

The 2014 is a sharper car exterior wise. But the 2015 has a nicer interior. Between the 2 I would definitely take the 14.

That's how I am feeling too, but the '15 has the line-lock, lighter clutch and shorter factory shifts. And it's the newest one.

I went through the same thing as you last year although I wasn't worrying about mod's. I bought a used (2,700 miles used) 14 TrakPak GT, base model. The sticker was $37k new and I got it for less $11k less than that. I also looked at the 15 GT that was identical to my car.........and revisited it just in the past couple of months.........and the sticker on the 15 was only about $1500 more than my 14.
Mod's for the 15 are going to start coming out. I've already seen a lot of suspension stuff, and with the GT350 coming out late this year I'm sure there will be a lot more to follow.
If you are looking for mostly appearance stuff like spoilers, stripes, wings or body kits it may take sometime to get them on the market. If I were you I'd call Steeda, AM, CJPony and some of the other Mustang retailers and ask them the same questions. I'm sure they know a lot more than we do as to when these type of mod's will hit the market.
The 14 is now an old body style, and the 15 is brand new. So, if you aren't the patient type then do what you need to do. Personally, I'd buy the 15 (with the right equipment) and just wait, the parts will follow.....IMHO

I've heard line lock voids your warranty, if ford can prove you were track racing

The 14 is better looking but I'm biased. I drove a competition orange 2015 5.0. I loved the interior. But good god they're ugly I think. I just drove it to see how it felt.

Are you gonna buy all the mods you ever want right now? Every possible part you can buy for the 15 or 14 will cost well over $20-25k not including internal motor work.

If you're gonna work on the car a few pieces at a time then by the time you get through a few rounds of mods then more parts will be out.

Never settle in life. Go with what you want. I am not a 2015 fan as mucha s the 11-14 but if you are... get it and Mod slowly. I almost wish there wasn't so much available for mine, lol.

Brand new premium '14:

New 2014 Ford Mustang For Sale in MD | Stock 000F7613 | VIN: 1ZVBP8CF3E5305874

I bet it could be had for a bit cheaper, and you won't touch a premium 15 for anywhere close to that.

I agree and disagree. Mods will start coming out slowly, but for people who do mod, a very small percentage of them actually wait until 3/36 warranty runs out.

OP - if you like the 15 that much more than the 14, go for a 15. In 6 months, you'll have plenty of potential mods to chose from.

Get a 2015 and be patient. Most models/make cars don't even have nearly the selection of what's available already for '15 Mustangs for their whole life cycle!

Mustang have some of the most mod parts available of any car, b/c of the sheer # of them and the # of people in to modding them. The car was JUST released a few months ago and there are already quite a few things available.

Besides you want to break the car in at least a couple thousand miles and 1 oil change before you start modding it anyway. By the time you put 2-5k miles on it, there will be probably everything you need.

Sure you can, another five grand will get a 15 Premium GT.
If you want a 14 buy one like I did, 2700 miles, GT TrakPak w/Recaro's for less than $26k. I drove a 15 exactly like mine and talked them down to $35k, but they wouldn't give me what I paid for my 14.

Maybe a small percentage of people on this forum don't wait to mod but the vast majority of Mustangs on the road are not modded and a lot of people do wait a while just to give the car a chance to get broke in and any manufacturers defects to show their face while car is under warranty. I'm not saying it will be 3 years but that's one of the reasons aftermarket companies don't just dive right in.

Honestly, the cars are chalk and cheese. If you like raw aggression in a car, the '14 is for you, if you like more BMW-like sophistication, the 15 is your bag. I can't imagine the buyer for one finding much joy in the other, and I've driven both (I own a 2012 BBP car).

I kinda agree with him the 15 is kind of like a progression of the new edge mustang and return to the Mustang resembling the Ford product line. The s197 was a radical departure of retro futurism and produced some of the finest looking Mustangs to ever hit the street. The 14 is a beautiful specimen...my .02

I did the same as you, that's why I bought the 2014. I like a muscle car look vs a European sports car, just my opinion tho.

Just seen a black 14 premium with 15k miles for 26,750 @ a local dealer. Black, a6 on 19's... Buddy may buy it now for 28,117 certified out the door. Can't beat that vs another 10k about for a year newer version that resembles a fusion. Not to mention same drive train minus irs basically in a nutshell. No brainer. Get a 14 or even a low mileage 11-12 if you like the more retro look. Save yourself 10*grand + and the confusion of having ppl tell u nice fusion at the gas station... Now the new Shelby GT-r on the other hand....

Just seems like a lot of money for a high mileage car. I bought my TrakPak/Recaro/Tech pak car for less than what your buddy is buying "out the door" last year.........with only 2700 miles. Plus had a CAI and SCT tuner.
I can buy an exact match to my car for $34,500 "out the door" here...............maybe West Coast prices are different.
Just saying...................

Buy a 2015 GT loaded Premium convertible and I'll trade cars with you.
My sticker was $46k and I've added some nice bits, check my garage out.

I think I'd prefer the 15 European finesse over the 14 raw muscle car.

If the local dealer has a reputation of being fair, modifications will not void the warranty unless it is the cause of the problem. The line lock issue is tricky. Ford, like the other manufacturers, are going to fight certain warrant issues if they feel the cause is abuse (racing). Using the line lock is going to register in the computer, and if there is damage that is consistent with racing, you are toast.

On the 15 GTs im pretty sure they come from the factory with a line lock so there's no way ford can void a warranty for using factory installed options.
