Snapped Strut Bolt

While re-installing my strut brace today, while torquing the last bolt to 26 ft.lbs, snap. I noticed that the strut bolts are a white metal, which is softer than a case hardened bolt. In any event just about an 1/4" of the bolt can be seen sticking up
from the strut tower.

Any suggestion on replacement, or do I have to get new strut plates.

I would ask the dealer if they sell replacements. I haven't looked at one in some time but I believe it is a stud correct? Are you already running the gt500 mounts?

lots of people snap those things, its best not to torque them because they break so often, I just use my best judgment and get them nice and tight. Id see if you can tap the broken stud out and replace it before Id buy new mounts

New stock strut mount is like 40 bucks. Dealer will be able to get you one as they are one time use. But for that investment why not just upgrade to a better setup?

Thanks for the reply, no mounts are stock. I'll see if it can be tapped out first.

Strut studs are made to break to be part of the "give" in a crash to save lives. The nuts are one time use, and I always use a new set of four if I take my strut brace off to clean. I keep a new bag of 4 in the garage so I have them if I need them. How many times did the nuts get reused when you snapped it? I have no idea if that makes a difference, but there is a reason for the plastic in them to be one time use.

Have a part number for these bolts or do you get them at a local auto parts store?

Would like to grab some new ones before my install(reusing stock mounts) on my 14 car.

You will have to change your struts to the 05-09 style just FYI
