What oil and filter

Can I please hear some suggestions on oil type and weight for my '13 5.0 Mustang. It has 14,500 miles on it. Is synthetic the answer? Best oil filter? Motorsport, Fram, Bosch, etc,? Thanks.

This is easy

Any oil with this on the can / bottle:

Any Filter EXCEPT a FRAM

Your manual will tell you what weight to use. "READ IT"

I personally just go to my dealer and get Ford Motorcraft oil and filter.

I use 5W-20 Motorcraft oil and a Motorcraft FL500s filter on my 14 GT. It's all you need.

I run any good quality oil. 5/20 in the winter. And I've run 15/50 in the heat of summer. WIX filters.

Appologies for some of the responses you are getting from our "seasoned" members...we ask them to simply move on to other threads rather then provide an unwelcome response.

What may be of help on other frequently asked subjects would be the search option: select it, type in your topic, and be prepared to read, as there is a great wealth of information on popular topics such as oil, oil filters, maintenace schedules, CAI, exhaust, tuners, and the list goes on.

Once again, welcome to the site; we're glad you're here!

currently on my 02, i use motorcraft filters. i grab those wherever. then i go to walmart and grab a 6 qt bottles of motorcraft 5w30. personally, i trust 5w30 way more than 5w20, and i do acknowledge that i may in fact be paranoid. you have a much newer engine than i do, so i cant say too much. But, much to my dismay, Walmart does have very low prices on oil.

still cant go wrong with amsoil, mobil1 and castrol. and like ronnie says, these days virtually anything with the API seal on it is safe. the additive packs are the difference. so for a daily driver, any of them work. if you are racing, then you wanna research your oil some more.

and its not like we can taste or smell our oil while we are driving. at least i hope not...

Any Ford dealer tat offers "THE WORKS"

Ask your Ford dealer if they offer what is called "The Works" They will change the oil and filter using Motorcraft semi synthetic oil and a Motorcraft filter. $39.95 as advertised on TV. Of course if you want full Synthetic oil you will be charged way more.

Right now there is a $10.00 more off mail in rebate offered.

That and it's probably only at participating dealerships. I think theres a kia dealer in the tampa area that says they are the home of the 9.99 oil change. but thats only for people who bought their kia from them.

What oil and filter

The dealer I go to has the works for 29.95 up to 5 quarts but they do not charge extra for my vehicle even though it uses 8 quarts. It also includes tire rotation...

The best deal they have going is the full synthetic oil change for $45 - $49

Walmart sells Motorsport 5w20 blend cheap!. Ford uses 5w20 for fuel economy. Track package cars , Boss 302 and Gt500's use 5w50 full synthetic because Ford thinks these cars are going to the track. This is an overkill for the DD.
